Ellis Will Return To Cowboys, Might Be Unhappy About His Role

Oct 7, 2014 1:25 PM

Dallas Cowboy defensive end Greg Ellis will be in a Dallas uniform for the 2006 season, the question remains however, will he like it? Ellis is concerned about his role with Cowboys and has requested a meeting with the Cowboys before the June minicamp to discuss where he fits in the Cowboys plans. Last season, he was moved behind then-rookie Chris Canty and was mostly a situational pass rusher. It appears doubtful that role will change much this season. "He's a vital part of my expectations for our success," Jones said at the team's annual golf invitational at Cowboys Golf Club. "Greg has stated the pure 3-4 concept doesn't fit him. The facts are we don't play a pure 3-4 concept that fits him. I haven't seen a player of his caliber that got comprised by scheme."

It's in my best interest that he's successful. And it's in his best interest that he's successful. ... "I'm not approaching this with the idea it's going to be adversarial or I'm going to be mandating every little thing this player does."
