Cowboys Waive RT Jacob Rogers

Aug 3, 2014 8:13 AM

The Dallas Cowboys dropped their former second-round pick Jacob Rogers, less than 18 months after being drafted causing many to wonder why. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells had told his players in January that changes were coming and players not on board were going. Rogers failed to show Parcells any sign of adapting and thus was released. "This is one thing I've learned from [former Green Bay Packers general manager] Ron Wolf. When you see something and you know it's not going to work, cut your losses," Parcells said. "Don't worry about what anyone thinks about it. I think that's very true. I've seen people spend good money after bad and waste time trying to make their drafts look like they're something, and, at the end of the day, it's a waste of time." He added a hasty postscript: "I'm not saying that about Jacob."

Rogers Decision For Surgery Could Cost Him His Cowboy Career

Jun 4, 2014 12:26 AM

The Dallas Cowboys are not happy with offensive tackle Jacob Rogers? decision to undergo season-ending surgery on his ailing right knee. "It was discouraging that he elected to have surgery," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "We were hoping he would play through that. We were making plans for him to come to practice the next day, not have surgery." Asked if Rogers had a future in a Cowboys uniform, Jones said "I don't know." "It is the player's choice to have surgery," Jones said. "It's always the player's choice. But to make the team, get established, you have to play through injuries. Mark Tuinei played many seasons through serious complications. "It's disappointing."

Coach Gibbs Does Not Think Dallas Fans Are The Ugliest In The World

Jun 6, 2014 1:49 PM

Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs formerly apologized Saturday for calling Dallas Cowboy fans ?the ugliest people in the world.? "I tried to make a joke," Gibbs said. "I was joking. It didn't come out probably like a joke or like it should've. I hope all my buddies in Dallas -- because I've got a lot of buddies down there -- took it the right way. I hope they thought it was a joke. "But if they didn't think it was a joke, or if anybody took it the wrong way other than a joke, when you make a mistake like that, you've got to apologize. So I apologize to anybody that might have taken it the other way."
