Irvin Arrested For Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia

Jun 7, 2014 2:22 AM

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his vehicle during a traffic stop, Plano police said Sunday. Irvin, a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for speeding in Irving after being pulled over Friday afternoon for speeding in Plano, the Plano Police Department said. Police spokesman Mike Johnson said he didn't know what kind of paraphernalia was found. Irvin paid a fine on the speeding ticket and posted bond on the drug paraphernalia possession charge. He was released about an hour after he was pulled over. Irvin, a member of three Super Bowl championship teams with the Cowboys, retired in July 2000 and works as a studio analyst for ESPN.

Eagles File Charges Against Cowboys

Aug 28, 2014 3:57 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles have filed a tampering complaint against the Dallas Cowboys after Dallas owner Jerry Jones suggested on a radio show that his team is often interested in players such as suspended wide receiver Terrell Owens. "In general, I am a risk-taker. We've gone down that road," Jones said when asked if the Cowboys might be interested in Owens. "I probably have a propensity to try and make things work. ... A top receiver could flourish with Drew Bledsoe. That's always appealing."' NFL spokesman Michael Signora confirmed Sunday the Eagles filed the complaint over Jones' remark and said "the matter is under review." Owens was suspended for four games by the Eagles on Nov. 5 for criticizing quarterback Donovan McNabb, fighting with team "ambassador" Hugh Douglas and other actions deemed detrimental to the team. Last Tuesday, the suspension was upheld by an arbitrator.

Aikman And White Lead Semifinalists For HOF

Jul 11, 2014 2:47 PM

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman and perennial All-Pro defensive end Reggie White head a list of 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The board of selectors chose them from a list of 112 preliminary nominees, the hall said Tuesday. A list of 15 finalists will be announced in mid-January. The class of 2006 will be determined at the selection committee's annual meeting Feb. 4 in Detroit, the day before the Super Bowl. The list of 25 will be reduced by mail ballot to 13 modern-era candidates. The list will increase to 15 finalist nominees with the inclusion of the two recommended candidates of the hall's seniors committee. This year, they are former Oakland Raiders coach John Madden, and former Cowboys tackle Rayfield Wright.

Cowboys Sight Tackle Marc Colombo

Jun 7, 2014 2:21 AM

The Cowboys tried bulking up their protection for quarterback Drew Bledsoe on Wednesday by signing tackle Marc Colombo, who had started seven games for the Chicago Bears since being a first-round pick in 2002. Colombo played 18 games over the 2002-04 seasons for Chicago. He went to training camp with the Bears, then was cut Sept. 13. The Cowboys, who had a vacant roster spot, have lacked depth at tackle all season, especially since left-side starter Flozell Adams was lost for the season to a knee injury. Sixth-round pick Rob Petitti starts on the right side.

Cowboys Begin Work On New Stadium

Dec 9, 2014 4:56 AM

Tarrant County crews on Tuesday began demolishing houses in preparation for a new Dallas Cowboys stadium. The 30-acre stadium and most of its 25,000 parking spaces will be built on more than 75 acres of homes, apartment complexes and motels. More than 100 houses and 1,000 apartment units must be torn down, and the county planned to tear down eight houses Tuesday, said County Precinct Administrator Jon Weist. Two neighbors watched with sadness as graders demolished the houses and loaded the debris into dump trucks bound for the city's landfill. "It is sad because it is not just houses they are taking," Melodie Darden told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for a story in Tuesday's online edition. "How do you put a dollar on sentimental value?"
