Crayton Expected To Miss 6-8 Weeks

Oct 2, 2014 4:49 AM

Although the prognosis isn't as dire as originally anticipated, the Dallas Cowboys will still be without Patrick Crayton for at least 6-8 weeks after the No. 3 wideout underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove particles from his injured right ankle. Coach Bill Parcells feared that Crayton, who emerged this season as a key contributor in the passing game and on punt returns, had broken the ankle in Sunday's overtime victory against the New York Giants. Instead, tests revealed a lateral ligament sprain, and some debris floating in the ankle. There is still a possibility that Crayton, who has 18 receptions for 272 yards and who has averaged 7.8 yards on punt returns, could miss the rest of the season. But the Cowboys are holding out hope he can return late in the year.

Cowboys Preparing To Play Without Julius

Oct 29, 2014 9:12 PM

With Julius Jones wearing a walking boot Tuesday, the Cowboys are preparing to play without the running back Sunday against the New York Giants, The Dallas Morning News reported. Jones missed the second half of last week's win against the Eagles after suffering a high ankle sprain. Jones did not practice Wednesday morning, instead riding a stationary bike. If Jones is unable to play, undrafted free agent Tyson Thompson or veteran Anthony Thomas will start.

A Blowout And A Blowup

Oct 2, 2014 4:44 AM

Drew Bledsoe and Keyshawn Johnson engaged in a heated sideline exchange during the third quarter of the Dallas Cowboys' 33-10 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Both players said afterward there were no hard feelings. ``We're not mad at each other at all,'' Johnson said. ``It's not a Drew vs. Keyshawn, Keyshawn don't like Drew ... it's none of that.'' The verbal spat began after Johnson fumbled when Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard rammed his helmet squarely on the ball. Sheldon Brown recovered the fumble and returned it 80 yards for the Eagles' only touchdown. Bledsoe confronted Johnson for losing the football, which instantly annoyed the outspoken 10-year veteran. Johnson stormed toward his quarterback and barked at him for several seconds before receivers coach Todd Haley pushed Johnson away. ``At that point in the game I felt like we were absolutely manhandling them,'' said Bledsoe, who threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns. ``When we turned the ball over I wasn't happy about that.''
