The Cleveland Browns and Baker Mayfield haven't yet had substantive talks on a new contract for the quarterback.

"The lines of communication between the Browns and Tom Mills, Mayfield's chief negotiator, and his father, Jack Mills, are open, but they haven't exchanged proposals yet," Mary Kay Cabot wrote for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Browns have picked up Mayfield's fifth-year option worth $18.858 million in 2022, giving the two sides time.

The Cleveland Browns saw both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt total more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage last season.

Chubb rushed for 1,067, while Hunt finished with 841 yards.

Hunt believes he and Chubb can both pass the 1,000-yard rushing mark this coming season.

"I believed it was possible last year, too, but some things happened," Hunt said. "We'll learn from it and get better and hopefully continue to put in good work this year."

Baker Mayfield is in "no rush" to sign an extension with the Cleveland Browns and is focused on his on-field play.

"Everything happens for a reason and it'll handle itself," said Mayfield, who became eligible for an extension this offseason. "So, just worried about winning."

Mayfield finished the season 10th in QBR, though from Week 7 to Week 15 he ranked third, trailing only league MVP Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. Mayfield ended with 26 touchdowns and only eight interceptions, while completing almost 63% of his passes.

Jarvis Landry reported that Odell Beckham Jr. looked fully recovered when they worked out together this past week in Austin, Texas.

"Man, he looked amazing," Landry told reporters. "I can't wait for you guys to see him. I can't wait for him to get back out there. He's in fantastic shape and he's ready to go. He's only what, 6½ months [beyond surgery], and he's already doing some things that will blow your mind away."

Beckham missed out on the fun after suffering a torn right anterior cruciate ligament in the opening minutes of Cleveland's Oct. 25 game in Cincinnati.

Beckham underwent surgery a few weeks later.
