Alshon Jeffery, Bears Have 'Positive Meeting'

Mar 5, 2017 12:36 PM

Alshon Jeffery and the Chicago Bears had a "positive meeting" on Saturday with both sides "more than open to a reunion."

Jeffery is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Jeffery has said that he wants to sign with a contender, explaining Thursday, "Whatever the next chapter is, I'm ready for it. I'm looking at the teams that obviously need a wide receiver, but also put me in the best situation to win a championship right now."

The Bears are coming off a 3-13 season.

Alshon Jeffery Wants To Sign With Contender

Mar 4, 2017 2:08 PM

Alshon Jeffery says that he's looking to sign with a contender when the free agent market opens.

"I don't have any hard feelings towards the [Chicago] Bears -- it's all love," Jeffery said. "Whatever the next chapter is, I'm ready for it. I'm looking at the teams that obviously need a wide receiver, but also put me in the best situation to win a championship right now. I also want to see what other free agents may be attracted to the same teams I'll be looking at. That can help that goal."

Chicago declined to use the franchise tag again on Jeffery, which would have put them on the hook for more than $17 million.
