During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Cam Newton revealed that he's taking a vow of chastity during March.

"In March — I hope this is an adult crowd, it looks like it is — no climax," Newton said.

Newton is coming off shoulder surgery and is looking for any way to improve his physical and mental strength.

"It makes my mind stronger," he said. "So when the season comes around, I say if I did those things, I'm mentally stronger."

The Carolina Panthers don't plan to pursue a veteran quarterback in free agency as they feel Cam Newton is making great progress following his second shoulder surgery in three years.

Ron Rivera said Thursday that all reports on Newton have been "positive" and that he's happy with Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen as the team's backups.

"Right now, we're very pleased with where we are in terms of our quarterback position," Rivera said. "We're very satisfied in what we got at the end of the year in both Taylor and Kyle. Both guys showed their ability.

"If we did do anything, it would probably be in the draft. Developing that guy is important. But we really do feel strongly about the guys we have."
