Jeremy Maclin Learned Of Release By Chiefs Via Voicemail

Jun 15, 2017 2:40 PM

Jeremy Maclin was upset and shocked to learn of his release from the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month via voicemail.

"Through a voicemail," Maclin said asked how he learned of the news. "[From G.M.] John Dorsey. I was upset, I was shocked. Apparently, they had been trying to trade me for two or three months. Which who knows if that’s true or not? I would just think that ... a guy who is going into his ninth year would know if he's being shopped or not. It is what it is. I still have respect for Big Red, still have respect for the organization. I'm not going to bad mouth anybody or talk any dirt on anybody. It was an unfortunate situation. They felt like they didn’t want me as a player anymore, so it is what it is. I'm happy with where I am right now, and I think that might be the last time I talk about what I call my former life. So I don't think I want to talk about that anymore."

Maclin added that the Chiefs never asked him to take a pay decrease to remain with the club.

"There was not a discussion with me or my team," he said. "I've heard a lot of rumors coming out of there. I've heard they thought I lost a step, my price tag was too high. Whatever the case may be, I'm ready to play some football. That flame that burns inside of a competitor, that thing got a lot brighter."

Jeremy Maclin Agrees To Sign With Ravens

Jun 14, 2017 8:46 AM

Jeremy Maclin has agreed to sign with the Baltimore Ravens on a two-year deal.

Maclin was surprisingly cut by the Kansas City Chiefs on June 2nd. Maclin also visited the Buffalo Bulls.

Maclin also considered signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The addition of Maclin gives Joe Flacco the best available wide receiver on the free-agent market and significantly improves a Baltimore passing attack that lost two of its top three targets.

Jeremy Maclin Leaves Ravens Without Contract

Jun 10, 2017 1:33 PM

Jeremy Maclin visited with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, but left the club without a contract in hand.

Maclin was shockingly released by the Kansas City Chiefs last Friday.

"He's going to go back. We didn't press him to stay," John Harbaugh said. "I think talking to his wife is really important. He's got a wedding this weekend, so he wants a little more time to make up his decision. ... The main thing is, you want guys to be happy. If they come here, or wherever they go, you want them to look back and say, 'I made the best decision of my life to do that.'"

Maclin also met with the Buffalo Bills this week.

Ravens Release Dennis Pitta

Jun 8, 2017 8:03 AM

The Baltimore Ravens have released Dennis Pitta, clearing $2.5 million in salary cap space.

Pitta injured his right hip again last week, which could end his career.

Baltimore didn't have to give an injury settlement to Pitta because he signed a waiver after fracturing his hip in 2013 and 2014.

Pitta led all NFL tight ends last season with 86 catches.

Dennis Pitta re-injured his right hip during practice on Friday, which could result in the end of his career.

The fear is that Pitta fractured and dislocated his hip for the third time in four years.
