The Detroit Lions explored trading up with the Atlanta Falcons for the fourth overall pick with an eye on taking Ja'Marr Chase, according to a report.

Ultimately, Atlanta's asking price for the No. 4 pick was too high.

The Lions have the 7th overall pick and a need at wide receiver.

The Baltimore Ravens have inquired with the Atlanta Falcons about a possible trade for Julio Jones.

However, the wide receiver's contract makes a trade unlikely.

Jones, 32, carries a $15.3 million base salary this season.

It was reported on Monday that the Atlanta Falcons were taking calls about Julio Jones and they aren't doing anything to refute the rumors.

New general manager Terry Fontenot, when asked directly about the reports, didn't deny them or even try to suppress the topic.

"That's one of those things that when you're doing things the right way in an organization, you have to listen if people call on any player," Fontenot said.

"Especially, we are in a difficult cap situation. That's just the circumstance. It's not a surprise for us. We knew the circumstance we were in. Our administration has done an excellent job up to this point, getting us in position to be able to manage the cap. Yet, we still have more work to do. So, when teams call about any players, then we have to listen, and we have to weigh it, and we have to determine what's best for the organization, and we have to handle everything with class. Obviously, that particular player we hold him in high regard. He's special, what he's done and what he continues to do here, but we have to consider any players if it's right for the team because we have to do what's best for this organization."

The Atlanta Falcons have received calls from teams inquiring about possible trades for Julio Jones, according to sources.

A trade for Jones would not be executed officially before June 1 due to salary cap reasons.

The Falcons would likely seek a first- or second-round pick for the wide receiver.

The Atlanta Falcons are hosting Cordarrelle Patterson for a visit and they are expected to sign the veteran skill player.

Patterson has spent the previous two seasons as a member of the Chicago Bears after signing a two-year, $10 million deal.

He has been used often as a running back lately in his career.

The Atlanta Falcons have begun to receive trade calls from multiple teams on the No. 4 overall pick and "are open to moving" out of the slot.

The top three picks are now locked in with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers owning those picks respectively.

Atlanta presumably is not interested in a quarterback at No. 4 due to their recent commitment to Matt Ryan.

The Atlanta Falcons will serve as the home team for one of the NFL's International Series games at Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, with a date and opponent to be determined when the league releases its schedule in May.

The NFL did not have International Series games in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The game will be a non-divisional game, which means either the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions or Washington Football Team will be Atlanta's opponent overseas.
