Julio Jones, Falcons Agree To Readjustment Of Contract

Jul 26, 2018 9:52 AM

Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a contract adjustment.

The Falcons converted some of his base salary for 2019, approximately $2 million, into a bonus for 2018.

The Falcons can call this a cap neutral adjustment because the proration of the bonus negates the cap hit.

Jones will now report to camp.

Falcons Step Up Extension Talks With Julio Jones

Jul 26, 2018 9:52 AM

The Atlanta Falcons have stepped up their efforts to sign Julio Jones to a contract extension as he plans to hold out of training camp.

Jones has three years remaining on his contract, but both sides have had dialogue to creatively increase his potential to earn more than his scheduled $10.5 million base salary in 2018.

Jones conceivably might not miss the start of training camp practices if the two sides can settle on a satisfactory adjustment to this year's income.

Arthur Blank has stressed to the organization that building healthy relationships under the team's theme of "Brotherhood" is a platform for resolving differences, sources said.

Falcons Extend Thomas Dimitroff, Dan Quinn Through 2022

Jul 25, 2018 10:07 AM

The Atlanta Falcons announced the signing of general manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn to three-year contract extensions on Wednesday morning, making their contracts congruent and keeping them together through the 2022 season.

“The partnership between Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff has proven to be as successful as we envisioned back in 2015,” said Falcons owner and chairman Arthur Blank. “I believe continuity in leadership is vital to achieving the highest levels of success in any organization and, with these extensions, we ensure these two leaders will be at the helm of our franchise for years to come. Their shared vision and long view plan has already delivered on a variety of levels and has positioned our team for success into the future. My expectations for our team to represent our city and fans well on and off the field remain very high and so does my confidence in Dan and Thomas to make that happen.”

Dimitroff joined the Falcons in 2008 and helped orchestrate the most successful run in franchise history, including five consecutive winning seasons from 2008-12 and three straight playoff berths.

Quinn was named the 16th head coach in Falcons history in February of 2015. In his first three seasons, he has compiled a 29-19 regular-season record with two postseason appearances, leading the club to an NFC title and its second Super Bowl appearance in 2016.
