Falcons Want To Increase Julio Jones' Targets

Oct 17, 2017 9:26 AM

The Atlanta Falcons want Julio Jones to receive more targets in their offense.

"No, and the reason I say that is that he's such a factor," Dan Quinn said when asked if he's satisfied with how often Jones is getting the ball. "We've got to get more possessions, more time, more plays. And I think that's more a byproduct of getting Julio the ball more. It's not where he needs the ball more. We need more plays so he can get the ball more."

Jones leads the Falcons with 25 catches for 367 yards but has no touchdowns through five games. Jones has 38 targets, which is tied for 32nd in the NFL. Antonio Brown has 72 targets this season.

Julio Jones Unlikely To Miss Any Games With Hip Flexor Injury

Oct 3, 2017 9:02 AM

Julio Jones is unlikely to miss any playing time despite suffering a hip flexor injury in Week 4.

The Falcons have a bye in Week 5 before hosting the Miami Dolphins in Week 6.

Jones was injured in the second quarter of the Falcons' loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Dan Quinn said afterward that Jones "definitely" wanted to get back in the game after suffering the injury but did not have his usual explosiveness, which is why he was held out.

"He had trouble just exploding, and if he can't be him, that's a unique thing for him," Quinn said. "The speed, the explosiveness -- so when he wasn't able to do that, that's when we had to pull him. He definitely wanted to go."
