The Atlanta Falcons have privately told people that their plan is to hire Dan Quinn as head coach.

Quinn is defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks.

The Falcons will hire Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator.

Kris Richard is a candidate to replace Quinn as defensive coordinator with the Seahawks.

Teryl Austin is pitching to become head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and wants to hire Adam Gase as his offensive coordinator.

Gase was a finalist for the San Francisco 49ers' head coaching job.

Dan Quinn, however, has emerged as the favorite for the Falcons' opening.

Austin, defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, has a second interview with Arthur Blank and the Falcons on Thursday.

Dan Quinn reportedly wants to become head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

Any team wanting to hire Quinn may be forced to wait several weeks until the end of the Seattle Seahawks' playoff run.

Quinn was also a candidate for the New York Jets.

Todd Bowles will have second interviews with the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets. 

Bowles is one of the most sought after head coaching candidates following another great season as defensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals.

The Atlanta Falcons have restructured their front office, giving more responsibility to assistant general manager Scott Pioli.

Pioli will run Atlanta's pro and college scouting departments while also taking over the team's draft process. 

Pioli will report to Thomas Dimitroff -- his close friend -- who will oversee the salary cap and continue to maintain ultimate control over the draft and free agency, per NFL Media's Albert Breer.

Pioli came to Atlanta after a serving as Kansas City's general manager from 2009 to 2012.

Doug Marrone is interviewing on Monday with the Atlanta Falcons.

Marrone has already interviewed with the New York Jets and will also interview with the Chicago Bears.

Marrone opted out of his contract with the Buffalo Bills.
