Falcons May Shake Up O-Line

Sep 9, 2014 8:23 PM

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has taken a beating through the season's first three weeks. Because of that, coach Mike Smith is considering changes to Atlanta's offensive line. Smith is first looking at the team's scheme. He said it is the continuation of his trend of "competition on all positions." "We've done it earlier in the season at other positions on the team, and we'll do it at the offensive line as well," Smith said. "We'll let that play out during the week and try to put the best guys out there. That's our job as a coaching staff, to make sure we have the best guys out there to give us what we feel is the best opportunity to win."

Reeves Believes Falcons Didn't Need To Abandon Vick

Sep 23, 2014 7:02 AM

Dan Reeves, who coached Michael Vick early in his career, believes the Falcons needlessly turned their backs on the quarterback during his incarceration. “When Mike really needed them they turned their back on him in my opinion,” said Reeves. “They could have been a big supporter and they let him go. I think it could have been handled differently. “I wasn’t there so I don’t know the organization’s standpoint, but I thought they could have been more supportive and instead they severed ties with him.”

Michael Vick will return to the Atlanta on Sunday night in dramatic fashion. Vick took a couple of snaps as a spot quarterback when the Eagles traveled to Atlanta in 2009, but Sunday will mark his first start in front of the Falcons fans who idolized him when he donned red and black. "I'm looking forward to that, I'm excited," Vick said. "It's definitely going to seem different. The first time being in the Dome playing against the team that I played for." Vick said he hasn't given much thought to what kind of reception he'll receive from the Atlanta faithful. "I don't know," he added. "I still have a lot of love for the fans down there, but keep in mind I'm with the opposition now."
