After he was hired from the New England Patriots on Jan. 13, 2008, Thomas Dimitroff chose to take a more analytical approach to changing the Falcons' fortunes and culture. He has a hand in all of the key operations, including athletic performance (medical and training), scouting and coaching.
"I'm a firm believer in coming into an organization and not carrying a big hatchet and moving people out of the building that were a part of this program before," Dimitroff said. "My belief was always to take the opportunity to work with people to see in fact if we are good fits with each other."
As his third draft approaches, Dimitroff is at ease.
"There is more comfort sitting in the general manager's seat and being the co-architect with Mike Smith as far as building this team," Dimitroff said. "We are comfortable with the direction of the team."
One of the key traits that Dimitroff has used to change the Falcons' fortunes is consensus building.
