Falcons, Milloy Part Ways After Thee Seasons

Sep 14, 2014 10:48 PM

The Falcons have decided not to re-sign veteran safety Lawyer Milloy, who has spent the last three seasons in Atlanta. Milloy, 35, will be free to pursue other options in free agency beginning on Friday. "As an organization, we felt it was in the best interest of both parties to let Lawyer test the free agent market," Atlanta general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. "He significantly contributed in his three seasons with the Falcons and we were proud to have him here. We wish him the best as he takes the next step in his career."

Falcons Won't Pursue Haynesworth

Sep 14, 2014 10:48 PM

Albert Haynesworth is now the top defensive tackle on the free agent market, but the Falcons don't intend on pursuing him. "We are not going to be major players in free agency," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said Friday at the NFL scouting combine. Haynesworth wants a $40 million deal, which would make him the highest paid defensive lineman in the league. "Albert Haynesworth is obviously a fine football player, but our aim is not to be major players in free agency," Dimitroff said. "It is to continue to get back focusing on the draft."

The Falcons publicly admitted for the first time this week that they are looking to trade the rights to Vick. "The Jets have no interest in Michael Vick," the spokesman said. New coach Rex Ryan echoed the sentiment. "I haven't thought about Michael Vick. We're worried about the three quarterbacks we already have on the roster right now. Falcons Trading To Trade Vick

Nov 11, 2014 7:50 AM

Atlanta general manager Thomas Dimitroff admitted in an interview that the team is trying to trade quarterback Michael Vick. "With regards to Michael Vick, we've decided to seek a trade of his contractual rights to another NFL club," Dimitroff said in an interview with Falcons.com. "We took a number of steps in the 2008 season, including using our first pick to draft a quarterback. We feel a trade is the best move for the Falcons, and it's also in the best interest of Michael. "This has been a really unique situation from a variety of standpoints and because we will actively be involved in a trade situation, I don't envision our organization speaking any more about this subject publicly until it's reached a resolution." Vick is serving a 23-month sentence at the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kan., for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy, and is scheduled for release in July 20th.

Will New UFL Bring In Vick?

Dec 5, 2014 5:31 AM

The UFL could entertain the idea of giving Michael Vick a second chance if fans of the league approve the decision. UFL commissioner Michael Huyghue last year opened up the possibility of having currently-incarcerated quarterback Vick join the league if he is released from prison in time. "I think it's too early to tell, but we did talk about Michael Vick earlier," Huyghue said. "We are a fan-driven league, and with those types of situations, we would put it on our web site and let our fans make the determination."

Oct 31, 2014 1:37 PM

Former Falcons running back Jamal Anderson was arrested and booked into an Atlanta-area jail on Saturday night on a felony possession-of-cocaine charge and a misdemeanor possession-of-marijuana charge. According to a police spokesman, a nightclub patron alerted an off-duty police officer to possible drug use in the club's restroom. "The patron had heard what he thought was sniffing from inside the stall and told the off-duty officer," police spokesman Otis Redmond said. "The officer went into the restroom, heard the same sniffing and peered over the stall door. He saw Jamal Anderson and Mark Hudson sniffing two lines of powdered cocaine off the back of the toilet."

Vick: Ex-Adviser Took Millions

May 17, 2014 2:21 AM

Suspended quarterback Michael Vick is suing one of his former financial advisers, claiming that her deceit and financial mismanagement cost him at least $2 million. The suit asserts that Mary R. Wong, of Omaha, Neb., took money from Vick's accounts for herself, and failed to properly invest what was left. "Due to the fraud committed by defendants, (Vick) has suffered monetary loss in the amount of at least $2 million, including funds due to him that were wrongfully converted by the defendants and the lost value of investments," the suit says.
