Falcons' Finneran Suffers "Serious" Knee Injury

Nov 12, 2014 7:04 PM

Falcons WR Brian Finneran suffered what team officials characterized as a "serious" injury to his right knee during a training camp practice Sunday night. Working in a drill against Jimmy Williams, Finneran injured himself while planting to cut inside. He went to the ground in pain, clutching his knee. "Once we look at the film, we'll probably see it was more of a non-contact injury than anything," coach Jim Mora said. "Sometimes you plant and your knee gives. It looks like it's serious, but we're going to wait until we get the MRI to confirm it."

Owens Expected Call From Falcons

Nov 12, 2014 7:04 PM

After being released by the Philadelphia Eagles in March, Terrell Owens was hoping to hear from the Atlanta Falcons. Owens had a house in the area and felt that a deal with the Falcolns made sense for both sides. He had mended fences with Falcons offensive coordinator Greg Knapp a long time ago, and George Stewart, his position coach with the 49ers, was on the staff. "They knew that I was on the market, but for whatever reason, they didn't pull the trigger," said Owens. "Definitely, I did look at Atlanta as a place to play, but unfortunately that didn't happen." Before Owens' contract dispute in Philadelphia and public squabbles with Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, he blew up at Knapp when they were with the San Francisco 49ers. "Our relationship was great," Owens said. "That one incident that I had with Greg Knapp, I think that happened and I apologized for that. We were able to move on."

Falcons' Crumpler Continues To Recover From Surgery

Oct 24, 2014 11:42 AM

Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Alge Crumpler, the Falcons' leading receiver in each of the past two seasons, could be limited in training camp and the preseason as he continues to recover from offseason shoulder surgery. The surgery, to repair damage to the labrum and the rotator cuff in Crumpler's right shoulder, was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday afternoon. Although the procedure was performed in late February after Crumpler returned from the Pro Bowl game, it was never announced by the Falcons, until general manager Rich McKay confirmed it on Tuesday.

Raiders Were Randy's Third Choice

Jul 15, 2014 3:30 AM

Appearing Thursday on the "Mayhem in the Morning" radio show in Atlanta Randy Moss said: "I want to tell every Atlanta Falcon and football fan that's listening ... what happened. When I was getting traded from Minnesota, I wanted to come and play for either the Atlanta Falcons or the Baltimore Ravens." The trade to Atlanta didn't happen because Falcons president Arthur Blank didn't want it to. "He did not think Randy Moss would be a good fit in Atlanta," Moss said. "Basically it was (Blank) saying there is no cold chance in hell I'd be playing for the Atlanta Falcons." Moss didn't go into detail about the Baltimore situation other than to say, "I wanted to play with a guy such as Ray Lewis because he's on defense and I'm on offense."
