Dez Bryant Will Reject Request By Cowboys To Take Pay Cut

Dec 27, 2017 9:10 PM

Dez Bryant will reject any requests by the Dallas Cowboys to take a pay cut.

Bryant is scheduled to make $12.5 million in 2018 but had a disappointing 2017.

"I haven't heard no talk about that but if it comes, I don't know, probably not," Bryant said Wednesday. "Hell naw, man. I believe in me."

Bryant is set to count $16.5 million against the salary cap. The Cowboys can free up $8.5 million if they release him or $12 million if he is designated as a post-June 1 cut, with him counting $4 million against the cap in 2019.

Jerry Jones didn't want to discuss the future of Bryant on Sunday.

In 2015, Bryant missed seven games with foot and knee injuries. He missed three games last season with a tibial plateau fracture.

Pete Carroll Calls Earl Thomas 'Come Get Me' Comments As Unfortunate

Dec 26, 2017 2:56 PM

Pete Carroll described comments from Earl Thomas in which he said "come get me" to the Dallas Cowboys as "unfortunate."

Thomas was heading into the Cowboys' locker room to talk with wide receiver Dez Bryant, a close friend, when he urged Jason Garrett to acquire him if he were to ever become available, telling the coach, "If ya'll got a chance to come get me, come get me!" The exchange was seen on video captured by the Dallas Morning News and the NFL Network.

Carroll spoke with Thomas after the incident.

"I sat with Earl afterwards and he was like, 'What do you mean?' He didn't think he did anything wrong at all. He didn't know," Carroll said. "He was just having fun and he was really excited about the game. He was a little bit [wanting to] rub it in a little bit and have a good time with it, and then he just said something into the future. When you read it, it comes across bad. But if he had another chance, he wouldn't say that again.

"He was really concerned about our fans. That was his first [thought], 'Geez, I don't want to make them think that I don't love being here' and all that. So he said what he could say to try to clear it up and all that."

Dec 13, 2017 3:23 PM

John Mara would like the New York Giants to bring back Eli Manning in 2018.

Manning was benched for one game this season before the Giants fired Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese.

Mara said, however, that the Giants' new general manager and head coach will be involved and that a quarterback could be drafted.
