Steelers Won't Consider Trading Roethlisberger Without Replacement

Aug 12, 2014 5:20 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers will not consider trading Ben Roethlisberger this offseason "unless (they) find a replacement," according to Ian Rapoport.

There have been multiple reports suggesting that Roethlisberger and the Steelers have a disconnect moving forward.

Roethlisberger has been adamant in his public remarks about wanting to remain with the Steelers in the long-term.

Peterson Wants To Remain With Vikings, Would Understand If Traded

Oct 15, 2014 11:42 PM

Adrian Peterson doesn't want to be traded from the Minnesota Vikings, but he would understand the business aspects of dealing him for draft picks.

"I definitely wouldn't mind playing here," Peterson told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I feel like we have the right pieces, and we can continue to get some more pieces as well to help build this team and make us even stronger. ... So, no, [I don't want to go elsewhere]."

Peterson signed a seven-year, $100 million extension in 2011 and the Vikings were a surprise playoff team in 2012. But the Vikings have a 2-7 record and don't appear to have a talented enough roster to contend in the near future.

"I understand that," Peterson told the Pioneer Press. "I know this is a business and things like that happen. So if it happens, it happens. There's not much I can't handle. I'm sure someone will welcome me with open arms if they do decide to trade me. ... But it's a business, so if they trade me, then, hey."

Roethlisberger Reiterates Wish To Stay With Steelers

Oct 15, 2014 11:42 PM

Ben Roethlisberger again confirmed his desire to stay with the Pittsburgh Steelers while questions were raised about how much work he puts into preparing for games away from team headquarters.

"First off, how does anybody know what I'm doing at home when I'm watching film or I'm looking through my playbook?" Roethlisberger said on WDVE-FM. "Unless someone's got cameras set up in my house and they're spying on me, but then they'd see the truth that I am doing that stuff.

"It's so ridiculous. I get fired up because I don't like when people make up stuff about you, especially when you're so passionate about your team and your family and where I want to be."

A report from the NFL Network indicated that the Steelers are frustrated with Roethlisberger's unwillingness to change his style of play.

The report also said that Roethlisberger may ask the team to explore trading him.

"I want to stay. My family wants to stay. I want to finish my career here, I've always said that," Roethlisberger said. "I hope that's very clear to everybody. When someone is a source and they're unnamed, they have an agenda and that agenda is not winning football games and not helping this team. And whoever the agenda is coming from, they're not helping us. They're hurting us.

"There's no way it's coming from in the building because if it is, they would come talk to me. I think my resume speaks for itself on what I've done in the past -- winning championships and football games."

Roethlisberger Angrily Refutes Report Of Wanting Trade

Jun 19, 2014 7:40 AM

Ben Roethlisberger responded with an angry rebuttal to a report that questioned his future with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"It's ridiculous," Roethlisberger said after Sunday's win. "This is where I've always wanted to be. I don't want to play for anyone else.

"I'm a Pittsburgher -- this is home. I'm proud to raise my kids here. I don't want to play for anyone else."

NFL.com reported that Roethlisberger is disenchanted with the direction of the Steelers and plans to ask the team to explore trading him as they did this past offseason.

Ryan Tollner, Roethlisberger's agent, also refuted the report shortly after it surfaced in a series of tweets.

"This is completely wrong and inaccurate," Tollner said. "Ben has always said he wants to play his entire career for the Steelers, and his roots are set firmly in Pittsburgh. He has a lot left in the tank and is 100 percent committed to winning more championships with the Steelers."

Owner: Eagles Determined To Find Franchise Quarterback

Jun 10, 2014 8:25 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles are determined to find a solution at quarterback long-term.

"We need someone to step up, whether it's an existing young quarterback or somebody we go out and acquire," owner Jeffrey Lurie told Geoff Mosher of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia this week. "We know -- this is no secret -- quarterback is the (ultimate) position and the most important difference-maker."

The Eagles have Michael Vick, Nick Foles and Matt Barkley under contract.
