Ponder, Freeman Not In Vikings' Plans

Sep 3, 2014 5:01 AM

The Minnesota Vikings are unlikely to retain Christian Ponder or Josh Freeman.

The Vikings believe Matt Cassel is likely to enter training camp as the presumed starter with a highly drafted rookie backing him up.

The Vikings could keep Ponder depending on how their next head coach thinks of him.

Vikings Won't Trade Adrian Peterson

Aug 6, 2014 4:45 PM

The Minnesota Vikings will not trade Adrian Peterson this offseason.

The Vikings revere Peterson and also believe he is critical in helping the franchise open their new stadium in 2016.

Peterson doesn't want to leave the Vikings, but he would accept a trade if that was the team's decision.

Shanahan Believes Redskins Could Get First Rounder For Kirk Cousins

Jul 1, 2014 3:36 AM

Mike Shanahan believes the Washington Redskins could parlay Kirk Cousins into a first round pick if he performs well during the final three games of the season.

“If he lights it up, hey, maybe we can bring a first-round draft choice back to this organization, and say hey, who are we gonna take in the first round,” Shanahan said. “And I think by him playing and Robert not playing, it gives us a chance to have a few options for our organization that we wouldn’t normally have, and the safety of our quarterback going into the offseason is preserved….And we’re still getting a chance to see a guy that we’ve got a lot of confidence in go out there and play. And his value can only go up. It cannot go down. It can only go up.”

The Redskins don't have their own first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft with it going to the St. Louis Rams as part of the Robert Griffin III trade.

Irvin: Josh Gordon Was Hurt By Trade Rumors, Wants To Be With Browns

Oct 1, 2014 5:10 AM

Josh Gordon has had a breakout second season, but was the subject of trade rumors at the deadline, which was unsettling for him.

Gordon is averaging 127.3 receiving yards per game for the Cleveland Browns.

"I had to talk him off the ledge, so to speak, when they were talking about trading him," NFL Media's Michael Irvin revealed on Thursday's edition of the "M&M Podcast." "He was so hurt and crushed. I was like, 'Man, you are the only property of value.' But he said he wants to be in Cleveland and wants to win in Cleveland, so I respect that."

Incognito, Martin Won't Return To Dolphins In 2014

Nov 28, 2014 8:54 AM

The tenures of both Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin with the Miami Dolphins are over.

Incognito will be an unrestricted free agent and the Dolphins will not re-sign him.

The Dolphins' locker room supported Incognito's side during the fallout of the bullying incident, which makes it not a suitable environment for Martin to reenter. The Dolphins will look to trade him in the offseason.
