The Panthers will show interest in veteran cornerback Asante Samuel if the Eagles make him available, according to a source.

Samuel Doesn't Want Trade; Eagles Fielding Calls
Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel hopes to remain with the team, but the team is open to fielding calls for him at the very least.
Samuel is rumored to be on the block after the blockbuster acquisition that netted Philadelphia Nnamdi Asomugha on Friday and the trade that brought over Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie the day before.
"Asante is still an Eagle," agent Alonzo Shavers said. "I do not want anyone to get confused because he's been absent. The Eagles obviously went out an wanted to get a big name in Nnamdi. But we'll see how things go when Asante gets into camp and practices."
Eagles Weighting Samuel's Future
Having signed top free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha on Friday, the Eagles appear to be weighing Asante Samuel's future with the team.
In addition to adding Asomugha, Philadelphia acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in a trade with Arizona on Thursday.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman coach Andy Reid danced around Samuel's future in a press conference on Friday night.

Rumors are already popping up that the Eagles could trade Samuel.

"I've made it clear since the day I got here that I've really enjoyed my time here in Chicago. My plans all along, obviously, were to play my career here. ... The guys on the team have been awesome. And the fans obviously are second to none and this city really embraces their team. ... At the same time, I feel like for my career and going forward to go join a team that has so much promise and the guys they have in place already down there. And [offensive coordinator] Rob Chudzinski [is] a guy that I know from my college days. And what he's done with tight ends and how his offense focused around that position. So I feel like it's a great opportunity for me going forward and it's something I'm looking forward to."
