McNabb Still Wants Out Of Washington

Sep 16, 2014 8:42 AM

Donovan McNabb still wants a change of scenery, according to a league source. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan met with McNabb's agent, Fletcher Smith, this week for 90 minutes. Washington has made it clear over the past few months that they don't view McNabb as their starter heading into the 2011 season. Shanahan's meeting with Smith was civil, according to the source, with Shanahan explaining to Smith why he made certain statements about McNabb during the season, and why he was ultimately benched. "I thought it was a good initial conversation," Shanahan said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Eagles Want First-Rounder For Kolb

Oct 31, 2014 1:37 PM

The Eagles are making it known that they want at least a first-round pick in exchange for Kevin Kolb. They may also want a third-rounder tacked onto any deal for the quarterback. The Eagles are known to be tough trade negotiators, so no one expects them to come too far off their asking price.

Teammate: Palmer 'Serious' About Trade

Oct 31, 2014 7:26 AM

Bengals lineman Andrew Whitworth spoke about Carson Palmer?s request to be traded from the organization. "No, not really," Whitworth said when asked if he was surprised by Palmer's request. "I knew he was really frustrated and knew it had been a tough year for him. It had to be. He took a lot of blame for a lot of things that probably weren't his (fault) and things that for sure weren?t his fault. That?s the nature of a quarterback but I think in a year in which he was so excited about the potential of our team and for everything to go so badly was tough on him. "Then it didn?t help that there were ? and you say Cincinnati fans but the people who do stuff like they did to him aren?t real fans. You?ve got your real fans that will love and support you no matter what but having stuff thrown in his yard and stuff like that, just stuff that is uncalled for. There is stuff like that I?m sure hurt him and put him in a place where he?s not just hurt but worried about his family and people coming to his house. You worry about all that for him but in the end I can feel his frustrations so I wasn?t exactly surprised but I was concerned."

Eagles May Trade Down In Draft

May 20, 2014 5:19 AM

The Eagles could trade down in the draft once again. Philadelphia has the 23rd pick in the first round of April's NFL Draft. "They're in one of those spots where (other) teams start to look to trade back into the first round," said Todd McShay, ESPN's director of college football scouting, in a conference call. "And you have all this depth at offensive tackle and offensive guard, and I know its early and we're just projecting, but I could very easily see them taking advantage of teams trying to get up."

Kolb Flattered By Fitzgerald's Suggestion

Aug 25, 2014 2:24 PM

Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb told WIP AM last week that he was flattered to discover that wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald suggested him as Arizona's next starting quarterback. Kolb, who wants to start next season, sounded thrilled at the prospect of pairing up with Fitzgerald. "I mean, if he's not the best, he's one of the best receivers in the NFL, (a) superstar," Kolb said. "For a guy like that to say something about me, it means a lot. And it's awfully flattering, and I hope that if something happens, their name comes up." According to ESPN earlier this month, Fitzgerald recommended the team pursue Kolb and Ravens backup Marc Bulger, who will be a free agent this offseason.

Broncos May Be Open To Dealing No. 2 Pick

Sep 7, 2014 7:50 AM

The Broncos have the second overall pick in April's NFL Draft, but they may be opening to trading it. "We're in the process of setting that board up," new executive John Elway told The NFL Network. "The board is set, but as far as where we're going to go with it, we don't really know until we find out what's going to go on the collective bargaining agreement, because obviously that second pick is an expensive pick if it stays as it is. "That's what we're hoping, that the collective bargaining agreement comes together quickly, and then once that comes together we can kind of figure out our philosophy going into this draft. Because where we are, we've got three picks in the top 46 picks, so we've got to make sure those hit, especially that second pick."

Kolb Reiterates Desire To Start

Sep 30, 2014 11:28 PM

For the second time, Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb has expressed a desire to start. "My big deal is I just want to start somewhere," said Kolb, who lost his job to Michael Vick after being injured in the season opener. "I feel like I'm ready and have confidence that I can do a good job. I had a meeting with Andy (Reid, the Eagles' coach) and told him that I feel like I'm prepared, I'm ready to take that next step. "People may call me crazy, but I trust Andy. He's always done what's best for (me) and our team and my career. I really believe that. And I know he'll do the same thing here, regardless of what that may be, whatever he thinks is right. "But I'm looking into my fifth year now, so it's time. I think I've learned as much as I can possibly learn by sitting on the bench and watching and coming in in relief. I'm ready to just get out there and get in that full mode of being a starter, (having) the entire offseason, the whole deal. There are going to be some highs and lows and some bumps. I know that. But I'm ready to iron those out on the field and then keep moving forward and getting better as a football player."
