Browns Never Got Solid Offer For Edwards

Oct 20, 2014 12:31 AM

Braylon Edwards is expected to remain with the Browns. Cleveland wasn't blown away by any trade offers for the receiver, and none included first-round picks prior to April's NFL Draft. It's unlikely that the market for Edwards will change, and that some team will pay a sizable price for him.

Is Marshall Done In Denver?

Nov 22, 2014 10:56 PM

After meeting with owner Pat Bowlen on Friday afternoon, Brandon Marshall was seen carrying boxes to his car. Marshall didn't report for the team's mandatory minicamp on Friday morning, and coach Josh McDaniels said his absence would be discussed later on in the day. "We'll do what the league rules allow us to do for a player that has missed a mandatory activity," McDaniels said. "The rest of that is really internal. I've spoken to him and his agent, and that's a decision that he's made." Marshall, who is recovering from hip surgery, doesn't want the team's training staff working on him if the club doesn't give him a new contract. "Of course, we'd love to have him here," said Chris Simms, who is competing with Kyle Orton for the team's starting quarterback job. "He's very talented, and he's going to make our team better and he's a good guy. We love having him around. But at the same time, it's the NFL, it's a business. There's a lot of things that go into decisions like this, so you've got to respect his decision and we'll continue to work here."

Eagles More Likely To Trade Reggie Brown Than Cut Him

Sep 28, 2014 11:56 PM

Reggie Brown went from injured to demoted to ultimately deactivated. By the end of it all, after he was benched for the NFC championship game, the Eagles wide receiver was disillusioned. "I guess they felt like they had a good thing going," said Brown, who didn't dress against the Cardinals in favor of Greg Lewis. "I really didn't get any clear-cut answer about that. So I just pretty much let it go." Brown is now healthy and motivated. Brown declined to say if he has asked for a trade. The Eagles are more likely to trade Brown than cut him. He is about to enter the first year of a six-year contract extension he signed in 2006, and dumping the 28-year-old would cost the team nearly $3 million against the salary cap.

Eagles Will Showcase Kolb

May 25, 2014 8:10 PM

With the Eagles possibily extending Donovan McNabb, sources say they might showcase backup quarterback Kevin Kolb this season in an attempt to increase his trade value for a trade next offseason. Philadelphia likes Kolb, but the starting gig following the eventual departure of McNabb might not happen quickly enough.

Panthers Won't Deal Peppers?

May 4, 2014 7:38 AM

As time passes, it's becoming more and more likely that the Panthers will hold onto defensive end Julius Peppers. Carolina is hoping to make the postseason this coming season, and trading Peppers for future draft picks isn't going to help them accomplish that goal. Team officials believe Peppers will show up for training camp with other players at the beginning of August.

Agent: Young Has No Desire For Trade

Oct 31, 2014 4:54 PM

Titans quarterback Vince Young has no desire to be traded, according to his agent, Major Adams. Young told a Baltimore television station earlier this week that he is working to get his starting job back, and that he'd like a trade if Kerry Collins remains the team's top option. "I'm still focused, staying focused. I've got a lot of people that look up to me. I've got a fans that love me and want to see me back out on the football field," Young told the station. "Right now, I'm just taking it a day at a time, being very competitive, competing for the job and just let Coach Fish[er] make his own decision. "Definitely I want to be in there playing ball and picking up where I left off, winning games and having a good time with my teammates and fans. But at the same time if them guys don't want me in there, it's time for me to make a career change for myself. The fact is I'm ready to play ball, and if they're not ready for me to play ball, somebody is." Adams downplayed his client's comments. "Vince's desire has always been to compete for the starting quarterback job in Tennessee," Adams said. "Even before they drafted him, they asked him if he thought he could compete for the starting role, and he said yes. He has always been a starter and that is his mindset. "He has not asked to be traded, and in fact, is going to an event at Bud Adams' ranch this weekend. Plus, he was in there working out [Monday. If he didn't have a desire to stay there, he wouldn't be doing any of that."
