Chris Long has signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Long announced before the start of free agency that he wouldn't be returning to the New England Patriots.
Long totaled 35 tackles and four sacks in the regular season. In Super Bowl LI, he made the most of his 15 defensive snaps played, drawing a critical holding penalty that helped push the Falcons out of field goal range when they had been in position to kick a field goal late and possibly increase their lead to 11 points.
Jason Witten and the Dallas Cowboys have agreed upon a four-year extension through 2021 on Tuesday that maxes out at $29.6 million and does not include more guaranteed money.
Witten turns 35 in May and was entering the final season of his deal. Witten is set to make $7.4 million in base salary and count $12.262 million against the cap. The Cowboys can restructure Witten's contract and earn close to $4 million in cap space whenever they need it.
This is the fourth contract Witten has signed with the Cowboys since he was a third-round pick in 2003.
The Chicago Bears have signed Mark Sanchez to a one-year contract.
Sanchez has started 72-of-77 career contests in eight seasons with the New York Jets (2009-13), Philadelphia Eagles (2014-15) and Dallas Cowboys (2016). He also spent the 2016 preseason with the Denver Broncos. Sanchez has completed 1,295 passes on 2,285 attempts for 15,219 yards and 86 touchdowns. He also owns 449 yards on 169 rush attempts. Sanchez missed the entire 2013 season due to a shoulder injury.
Last season with the Cowboys, Sanchez saw action in two contests throwing for 93 yards passing on 10-of-18 attempts.
Sanchez has started all six postseason contests in which he appeared, completing 95-of-157 passes for 1,155 yards and nine touchdowns. He also posted nine yards on 11 rush attempts. His nine touchdown passes rank 1st in Jets postseason history, while his 1,155 passing yards rank 2nd.
The Carolina Panthers have signed Jonathan Stewart to a one-year extension through 2018.
Stewart had a team-high 824 yards and nine touchdowns on 218 carries last season.
"It means a lot. This is a special place," Stewart said Friday. "... I'm not satisfied by any means. Last year was disappointing. We just have to get back to the mindset of winning, and it's really about the little things."
Stewart, who turned 30 on Tuesday, was scheduled to count $8,250,000 against the salary cap this season.
The New York Jets have signed Josh McCown to a one-year deal.
McCown's deal is worth $6 million and is fully guaranteed.
The New York Giants are expected to sign Geno Smith.
The Giants are stockpiling quarterbacks, adding Smith to Eli Manning, Josh Johnson and Keith Wenning.
Johnson impressed them last year -- despite not throwing a pass - and Smith is coming off a torn ACL.
Smith was a second round pick by the New York Jets in 2013.
The New York Giants have agreed upon a four-year deal with Jason Pierre-Paul with approximately $54 million in guaranteed money.
Pierre-Paul will average approximately $17 million per season.
The Giants used the franchise tag on Pierre-Paul last month for a one-year contract worth $16,934,000.
Pierre-Paul was craving long-term security as he enters his eighth season with the Giants.
"I'm not playing on no one-year deal," Pierre-Paul said.
The Oakland Raiders have agreed upon a two-year, $12.2 million deal with Jared Cook.
Cook caught 30 balls for 377 yards and one touchdown last season at tight end for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers moved on from Cook this offseason when they signed Martellus Bennett.
Cook had spent the previous three seasons with the Rams.
The Baltimore Ravens have agreed upon a four-year, $24 million contract with Brandon Carr.
Carr, who went a stretch of 36 straight games without an interception before picking off Giants quarterback Eli Manning in the 2016 season opener, is coming off his best season, finishing with nine pass deflections, a quarterback pressure, a tackle for loss and 61 tackles with Dallas.
Carr signed a five-year, $50 million deal as a free agent in 2012.
Carr has started and played in every game of his career (144 and counting). He turns 31 on May 19, but he's been able to stay relatively injury free.
