Julio Jones Signs Five-Year, $71.25M Deal With Falcons

The Falcons have signed Julio Jones to a five-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday before its preseason game against the Dolphins.

Jones, 26, will receive $71.25 million over the life of the deal, with $47.5 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Taylor Mays Signs With Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have signed Taylor Mays.

Mays was released recently by the Detroit Lions.

Mays is entering his sixth NFL season, following stops with the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals.

 

Mays played collegiately at USC from 2006-09 while Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton, Jr. coached on the defensive side of the ball and eventually served as the assistant head coach defense/linebackers in 2009, Mays’ final collegiate season.

Grossman joins T.J. Yates and Sean Renfree in the competition for the No. 2 QB role behind Matt Ryan.

Grossman hasn't thrown an NFL pass since 2011.

The Steelers have signed free-agent quarterback Michael Vick to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

Vick met with the Steelers earlier in the day, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson, as the team was in the market for a backup to Ben Roethlisberger after Bruce Gradkowski dislocated a finger in his left hand during last week's preseason game against the Packers.

Evan Mathis has agreed to sign with the Denver Broncos on a one-year deal worth $2.5 million with a chance to each $4 million total with incentives. Mathis had protested his $5.5 million salary with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Mathis was released by the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason.

Mathis has multiple Pro Bowl appearances at guard.

Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers have agreed upon a four-year extension.

Tom Telesco said he wanted to make sure that Rivers retired with the Chargers.

The new deal worth $83.25 million with $65 million guaranteed gives Rivers the highest guaranteed money of any player under a current contract.

The Chargers potentially relocating to Los Angeles reportedly had been a source of heartburn for Rivers, who wasn’t keen on moving his family a couple of hours north.
