The Steelers have signed defensive lineman Steve McLendon to the 53-man roster and waived rookie linebacker Thaddeus Gibson.
Gibson was Pittsburgh's fourth-round draft choice.
McLendon was added to the roster because defensive end Aaron Smith had surgery on Monday to repair a torn triceps.

Jackson Signs Tender With Chargers
Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson ended his lengthy holdout Friday by signing his $583,000 restricted free-agent tender, the team announced via press release.
Jackson skipped all of training camp and the first seven weeks of the regular season to protest the lack of a long-term deal.
He will serve a three-game suspension imposed by the Chargers, who placed Jackson on the roster exempt list earlier this season.
Seahawks To Re-Sign Ganther
The Seahawks have an open roster spot and are expected to re-sign fullback Quinton Ganther.
Ganther made Seattle's roster coming out of training camp and was the first-string fullback when the season began.
He was released after the third game as Michael Robinson, who recently suffered a hamstring injury, took over the role.
Seahawks Sign RB Chris Henry
The Seahawks have signed running back Chris Henry off their practice squad.
In a related move, Seattle released offensive tackle Breno Giacomini.
Henry has played in 10 career games with 32 carries for 122 yards. He was originally drafted by Tennessee in the second round of the 2007 draft.
Giants Sign Shayne Graham
The Giants signed veteran kicker Shayne Graham on Saturday with Lawrence Tynes nursing a sprained ankle.
Tynes sprained his left, non-kicking ankle on Friday during practice and it doesn't look like he'll be able to play on Sunday.
Graham, 32, spent the past seven seasons with the Bengals.
Saints Sign Julius Jones
The Saints have signed running back Julius Jones.
In a related move, New Orleans released kicker John Carney.
The Saints picked up Jones after losing two of three games since Reggie Bush fractured a bone in his left leg.
Lions Sign Sims To Extension
The Lions have signed offensive guard Rob Sims to a four-year contract extension.
Sims, who earns a base salary of $1.2 million this season, is now under contract with the Lions through 2014.
"We don't do a lot of renegotiating during the season, but in this case it just made sense," said Lions president Tom Lewand. "Rob is a young guy who has really solidified our offensive line."
"We liked Rob for a lot of reasons when we traded for him and he has validated all the things we saw," Lewand said. "He's been a great fit in the locker room and a great fit schematically on the field."
