The Steelers now have all but one of their 2009 draft picks under contract. Pittsburgh signed third-round offensive lineman Kraig Urbik to a three-year deal. The only player that the Steelers haven't signed is defensive lineman Evander "Ziggy" Hood.
Jaguars Sign Sixth-Round Pick To Deal
The Jaguars have finally signed one of their 2009 draft picks. Jacksonville announced Monday afternoon that tight end Zach Miller, a sixth-round selection, has agreed to a deal. The team still has eight of their nine picks unsigned.
Giants, Rookie Brown Agree To Terms
The Giants have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with rookie running back Andre Brown. New York now has five of their nine draft picks under contract. The Giants still have not agreed to terms with WR Hakeem Nicks (first round), LB Clint Sintim (second), LT William Beatty (second), and TE Travis Beckum (third).
Lions Sign C Raiola To 4-Year Extension
The Lions signed center Dominic Raiola to a four-year contract extension Thursday, putting the 6-foot-1, 295-pound starter under contract through the 2013 season, according to an Associated Press report.
Chiefs Pick Up Veteran Safety Brown
The Chiefs have signed veteran safety Mike Brown to a contract. Brown is a nine-year veteran and made the Pro Bowl with the Bears in 2005. He has missed 44 games over the past five seasons because of injuries and Chicago made no effort to re-sign him after last season.
Bengals Sign Scott, Waive 4 Players
The Bengals have signed sixth-round pick Bernard Scott and waived four players. Cincinnati has three of their eleven draft picks under contract. Tight end Matt Sherry, receiver Mario Urrutia, quarterback Billy Farris and long snapper James Smith were waived.
Steelers Sign Rookie Tight End
The Steelers have signed rookie tight end David Johnson to a three-year contract. Johnson was a seventh-round pick. Pittsburgh has now signed seven of their nine picks from April's NFL Draft.
Chargers Sign Brandon Hughes
The Chargers have made their first signing from the 2009 draft class, inking fifth-round selection Brandon Hughes to a four-year deal. Hughes, a cornerback from Oregon State, played for former Chargers Head Coach Mike Riley and finished his collegiate career with 178 tackles, three interceptions and 27 passes defensed. He was the 148th selection in the 2009 NFL Draft The 5-11, 181-pound Hughes is a native of Bloomington, Illinois. The Chargers also announced the release of four rookie free agents on Friday: guard Sam Allen, cornerback Ramarcus Brown, wide receiver Jeremy Childs and linebacker Anthony Felder.
Chiefs Close To Signing Mr. Irrelevant
The Chiefs have signed kicker Ryan Succop to a three-year contract. Succop was a seventh-round pick and the final selection in April's NFL Draft, playfully known as Mr. Irrelevant. He is expected to compete with Connor Barth for Kansas City's kicking job.
Ravens Sign Rookie RB Peerman
The Ravens have agreed to a three-year deal with rookie running back Cedric Peerman. Peerman, a sixth-round pick, will earn $1.253 million over the life of the contract. Peerman rushed for 1,749 yards in four seasons and 18 starts, scoring 15 touchdowns for the University of Virginia.
