Tua Tagovailoa 'Fully Cleared And Ready To Compete'

Mar 31, 2020 8:46 AM

Tua Tagovailoa has made enough strides in his recovery that his representation is confident enough to pronounce him fully cleared.

"Tua is fully cleared and ready to compete without any restrictions," Chris Cabott said.

The former Alabama quarterback passed the fourth medical checkup on his surgically repaired hip earlier this month.

Tua's doctor, Dr. Lyle Cain, said the quarterback's recovery nearly five months after surgery is significant.

"I am extremely pleased," Cain said. "If you told me four, almost five, months ago now that he'd be where he is now, I think I would have been very happy. I think he's done extremely well for where he started out."

Roger Goodell Sends Memo Draft Will Go On As Scheduled Apr 23-25

Mar 27, 2020 4:15 PM

The 2020 NFL draft will go on as scheduled for April 23-25.

Roger Goodell said in his memo that the NFL Management Council Executive Committee had met earlier Thursday and was "unanimous and unequivocal that the draft should go forward as scheduled," despite the coronavirus pandemic that has disrupted the work for most of the nation.

Goodell acknowledged there will have to be significant changes to their typical draft protocol.

"Everyone recognizes that the public health conditions are highly uncertain and there is no assurance that we can select a different date and be confident that conditions will be significantly more favorable than they are today," he wrote.

"I also believe that the Draft can serve a very positive purpose for our clubs, our fans and the country at large, and many of you have agreed," he wrote.

NFL Won't Move Back Draft Despite Recommendation Of GMs

Mar 25, 2020 2:52 PM

Despite urgings from the general manager subcommittee, the NFL plans to stick with its original April 23-25 schedule for the 2020 draft.

General managers are concerned there will not be enough time for player physicals, psychological testing and some teams having to conduct the draft from home.

The league still has time to make further and final decisions, but the consensus among owners and the league office is for the draft to go on as scheduled.

"I think a lot of owners aren't sold on keeping it on schedule," one league source said. "Of course the power owners are calling the shots. Plus, add to the fact that April is going to be the toughest month with this virus. It's really a poor look."
