Only 76 Draft Picks Remain Unsigned

May 18, 2018 8:22 AM

Just three weeks since the NFL Draft was held, only 76 picks remain unsigned.

The Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins account for 19 of those rookies. Neither team has signed a single pick at this point.

The Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles have signed all of their selections.

Of the 76 unsigned players, 22 were first-round picks.

Quenton Nelson, the sixth overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts, is the highest selection to have signed.

The Detroit Lions have traded Akeem Spence to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2019.

The defensive tackle started 11 games for the Lions last season.

Spence will be reunited with former Detroit defensive line coach Kris Kocurek, who was hired by the Dolphins after former Detroit head coach Jim Caldwell was fired last season.

Patriots Were Prepared To Trade Up To No. 2 For Baker Mayfield

May 2, 2018 10:19 PM

The New England Patriots had interest in trading up to No. 2 to select Baker Mayfield, according to Mayfield's agent Jack Mills.

The New York Giants owned the No. 2 pick and selected Saquon Barkley.

“We had another team which is going to surprise you. Another team had said, ‘You may get a big surprise on draft day, at No. 2, if he’s available.’ And it was the Patriots,” Mills said. “They had 23 and they had 31 and they had two seconds. We thought, ‘That’s gonna be a heck of a move, to get up that high from where they are.’ And of course he wasn’t available so we never knew if that was reality or not.”

The Patriots owned a pair of first round picks and many believed they had some level of interest in selecting a potential replacement for Tom Brady in this draft.

Mills also said that the Jets would have taken Mayfield over Sam Darnold at No. 3.
