Sam Darnold Doesn't Think Any Team Should Tank For Him

Jul 12, 2017 8:14 AM

USC quarterback Sam Darnold doesn't think any NFL team should tank next season for the right to draft him in 2018.

There has been talk that the quarterback-starved New York Jets should look to tank with an eye on Darnold.

"I don't think any team should tank their season because of me," he told ESPN.

Darnold redshirted in 2015 while Cody Kessler started for the Trojans. He then earned the starting job early last season.

There is also talk that Darnold, who has three years of NCAA eligibility left, could return to USC for the 2018 season.
