10 GMs, 34 Scouts In Attendance For Florida State Game

Nov 22, 2014 10:56 PM

There were 10 general managers and 34 NFL scouts in attendance for Florida State's Thursday game against Louisville.

Jameis Winston ranks slightly behind Marcus Mariota in terms of pure talent, but his off-field issues have produced a wide variance in the opinions of NFL talent evaluators.

The St. Louis Rams, Tama Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans all appear to be in the quarterback market for next year's draft and had their GM's in attendance. The Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns also sent their GMs.

Kelvin Benjamin Ran Slower 40 To Be Drafted By Panthers

Nov 27, 2014 2:34 AM

Kelvin Benjamin said he purposely ran a slower than usual 40 in order to play for the Carolina Panthers.

“Because I wanted to play for the Carolina Panthers,’’ said Benjamin, noting he has been clocked at 4.41 seconds, which would have been fifth fastest at the combine.

Benjamin was drafted with the 28th overall pick.

Brandin Cooks was the fastest receiver of the class, running at 4.33 seconds.

“He’s fast, man,’’ Benjamin said of Cooks. “He beats you over the top. That’s what he does.’’

Jameis Winston Dropping On Many NFL Draft Boards

Oct 17, 2014 1:47 AM

The off-field issues facing Jameis Winston has negatively impacted his draft stock, according to a report from Jay Glazer.

General managers are reportedly moving Winston down their draft boards, or off them entirely.

Additionally, due to possible rule changes involving sanctions against teams, franchises that employ players with off-field issues could have draft picks taken away, further diminishing the prospects for rookies-to-be like Winston.

Winston has already been cleared of criminal wrongdoing in an alleged rape case, but there were reports this week that Florida State officials and local police attempted to cover-up the issue.
