Early Rounds Of Fantasy Football Now Dominated By Wide Receivers

Aug 29, 2016 7:29 PM

On average, half of the top 48 picks in fantasy drafts are wide receivers, a 60 percent increase from 2012, when only 15 wideouts cracked the top 48, according to MyFantasyLeague.com, which hosts thousands of leagues.

Running backs, meanwhile, now account for just 35% of the top 48 picks, down from 52% a decade ago.

Quarterbacks are also considered much less valuable in fantasy than in reality, with just four of the first 48 picks generally being allocated to passers. That’s three less than the 2007-to-2015 average.

NFL teams are throwing the ball more and there's also been an increase in fantasy football leagues using Point-Per-Reception scoring.

“Wide receivers commonly finish among the scrimmage-yards leaders,” said Andy Behrens, a fantasy analyst for Yahoo Sports, “so PPR scoring is a patch for a problem that no longer exists.”

Browns Receiving Significant Trade Interest On Josh Gordon

Aug 24, 2016 8:57 AM

The Cleveland Browns have received interest from multiple teams about the availability of Josh Gordon.

The Browns are not currently interested in trading Gordon.

Cleveland has tried to establish an environment in which Gordon could thrive, and many around the league believe that first-year head coach Hue Jackson is the right coach for him.

Gordon will be suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season.

Gordon led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in the 2013 season but was suspended for 27 of the next 32 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Dez Bryant Suffers Concussion In Practice

Aug 23, 2016 10:38 AM

Dez Bryant suffered a concussion during Monday's practice and will miss the Dallas Cowboys' game against the Seattle Seahawks.

"I promise I'm ok Cowboy nation .." wrote Bryant on Twitter.

In two preseason games, Bryant has four catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns, as he returns from a broken foot that required two surgeries and limited him to nine games last year.

Bryant missed five games after undergoing surgery after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his right foot the day after the season opener. He hurt his knee in his second game back and struggled to make an impact as the Cowboys suffered from substandard quarterback play.

Karlos Williams has been waived by the Buffalo Bills.

The NFL announced in July that Williams is suspended for the first four games of the regular season for a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. He can serve the suspension as a free agent if he is not claimed off waivers or signed by another team.

Williams reported to minicamp in June out of shape.

A fifth-round pick last season, Williams played in 11 games, starting three. He gained 517 yards on 93 carries and scored seven rushing touchdowns in addition to two receiving touchdowns.
