Patriots File Tampering Charge Against Texans Over GM Approach

Jun 12, 2019 8:10 PM

The New England Patriots have filed tampering charges against the Houston Texans for their attempted hire of Nick Caserio as general manager.

Houston fired general manager Brian Gaine the night after the Patriots received their Super Bowl rings at the house of Robert Kraft.

Former Patriots team chaplain and current Texans executive vice president of team development Jack Easterby attended that party, as did Caserio, New England's director of player personnel since 2008. The Texans have requested permission to interview Caserio for their GM job but have not been granted permission to date.

Roger Goodell Interested In Decreasing Preseason Games

Jun 3, 2019 4:39 PM

Roger Goodell reiterated his interest in reducing the preseason from its current slate of four games.

"I feel what we should be doing is always to the highest quality, and I'm not sure preseason games meet that level right now," Goodell said.

"I'm not sure, talking with coaches, that four preseason games is necessary anymore to get ready for a season to evaluate players, develop players," he added. "There are other ways of doing that, and we've had a lot of discussions about that."

The NFL has long backed reducing the preseason schedule in exchange for expanding the regular season to as many as 18 games.

Players have concerns about safety issues with an expanded regular season.

NFL Wants Bills To Build New Stadium To 'Remain Competitive, Stable'

Jun 3, 2019 11:58 AM

Roger Goodell remains a supporter of a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills despite recent money that has been spent on renovating New Era Field.

“I want to make sure this franchise remains competitive and stable,” Goodell said, via Matthew Fairburn of TheAthletic.com.

Ownership of the Bills have discussed a new stadium that would be a “scaled-down version” of new facilities that have been built in other cities.

While Terry and Kim Pegula haven't brought up relocation as a way to spark support for public money to fund a new stadium, it appears the situation could be moving in that direction.
