Patrick Peterson Backtracks On Trade Request, Wants To Stay

Jan 31, 2019 8:23 AM

Patrick Peterson now says he wants to remain with the Arizona Cardinals.

It was reported that Peterson requested a trade in mid-October, but the cornerback backtracked just a few days later.

"I just want to apologize to everybody for asking for that trade in the middle of the season," Peterson said. "I'm here to stay, baby."

He said on Wednesday that he'll honor his contract, which goes through the 2020 season.

Baker Mayfield: Freddie Kitchens Was 'My Choice' To Coach Browns

Jan 31, 2019 8:12 AM

Baker Mayfield told SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio on Wednesday that Freddie Kitchens was who he would have hired as the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns if given the power.

"I believe in him," Mayfield said. "That's not to say anything about anybody else, but you know what? We had something special and I want to build on it."

The quarterback's comments were his first since the Browns gave Kitchens the job.

"I kind of had that sense the whole time," he said. "Seeing how he was, how he didn't change when he made the jump from running backs coach to offensive coordinator. Then just taking over and the difference that we had while he was calling plays. You know what, he had guys believing in him. When you have guys that believe in you as a head coach and respect you, there's going to be great things that happen."

DeSean Jackson Says He'd Like To Play For Rams

Jan 30, 2019 3:59 PM

DeSean Jackson, who is still under contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for another season, says he'd love to join the Los Angeles Rams.

Jackson made the comments when it was suggested on the Simms and Lefkoe Podcast that he could join the San Francisco 49ers.

"I don't know about Frisco, man. State tax is crazy, man," the receiver said. "That is home too though. I don't know. ... If anything, I would like to kind of end up in L.A., being a Ram. Sean McVay, you know, we got some connection from when I was in D.C., but we'll see how it plays out, man. Right now, I got another year in Tampa. So we'll see how it plays out, man."

Jackson, 32 is currently the oldest receiver on Tampa Bay's roster by seven years.

Patriots Open To Extending Tom Brady's Contract

Feb 1, 2019 8:25 AM

Tom Brady, who turns 42 in August, is only under contract through the 2019 season.

Robert Kraft says the New England Patriots have no reservations about extending the quarterback's contract.

Brady has repeatedly said he plans to play until he's 45.

"Think about it: The last three years we've been privileged to go to the Super Bowl with a quarterback in place. I would be quite surprised if he didn't continue for quite a while as our quarterback," Kraft said.

Brady is scheduled to count $27 million against the salary cap.

Roger Goodell: Changes To Replay Will Be Discussed Again

Jan 30, 2019 3:51 PM

In the wake of controversy at the end of the NFC Championship Game, Roger Goodell says the NFL will discuss changes that could help avoid such occurrences in the future.

Goodell, however, cautioned that such changes might not be as dramatic as some people might expect after the no-call in the Los Angeles Rams-New Orleans Saints game.

"We will look again at instant replay," Goodell said. "There have been a variety of proposals over the last, frankly, 15, 20 years on whether replay should be expanded. It does not cover judgment calls; this was a judgment call. The other complication is that it was a no-call.

"And our coaches and clubs have been very resistant, and there has not been support to date, about having a replay official or somebody in New York throw a flag when there is no flag. They have not voted for that in the past."

Matt Ryan Excited To Work With Dirk Koetter Again

Jan 30, 2019 9:38 AM

The Atlanta Falcons have made changes to their offensive staff yet again, but Matt Ryan is welcoming the new voices.

Dirk Koetter is back as the team's offensive coordinator. He held the position from 2012-14.

Ryan said on 680 The Fan that it is “hard” to see Steve Sarkisian leave the team, but that feeling is tempered by positive feelings about Koetter’s return to Atlanta.

“I’m excited to work with Dirk Koetter again, it felt like my time spent with him early in my career was really productive,” Ryan said. “I’ve learned a lot since then, and I think we both can be better as we move forward. But, it’s one of the parts of the job that sucks, for sure. Letting people go and having new people come in and turnover, but it’s a part of this business and you have to deal with it.”

McCourty, 31, is finishing his ninth season with the Patriots and is an eight-time captain. He has played in 139 career regular-season games, starting all of them, in addition to 21 playoff games.

L.A. has 10 major sports franchises, including professional soccer.

Thousands of fans dressed in all shades of blue, white and gold sent the team off at a rally in Inglewood on Sunday.

"For being young in the sense that it's still growing, for us to have that showing the other day was special and it shows the backing that we have from our fans," Brandin Cooks added. "We thank them a lot and we look forward to hearing them loud and clear come Sunday."
