Browns To Part Ways With Josh Gordon

Oct 2, 2016 12:18 PM

The Cleveland Browns will part ways with Josh Gordon.

Gordon is entering a rehabilitation facility, citing a need to "gain full control of my life."

Hue Jackson said earlier Friday that the team will "move on" from Gordon. The source acknowledged that the Browns ultimately plan to cut ties with Gordon, but noted that Jackson's comment was not meant to reflect the team's plans.

Gordon was suspended for the entire 2015 season but was reinstated conditionally on July 25 by commissioner Roger Goodell, though he also was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season.

Both the NFL and Tom Coughlin's agent have denied a report that he met with Buffalo Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula over the weekend.

"This meeting did not happen," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Pro Football Talk.

Ronnie Lott 'Optimistic' About Keeping Raiders In Oakland

Sep 28, 2016 9:07 AM

Ronnie Lott is "optimistic" about keeping the Raiders in Oakland as he continues to talk to government and team officials about a way to keep the club from moving.

Lott and Rodney Peete have been talking to Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf and Raiders owner Mark Davis about how they can keep the club where it is as pressure mounts from a Las Vegas bid.

"I have a lot of respect for Mark," Lott said. "We have a great relationship. I think the city and county will find a way to get this done, and Mark and the Raiders can continue to be an important part of this community."

Lott's investment group has a contract that gives them 90 days to work out a deal for the Coliseum, which expires at the end of November.

Anthony Davis Again Retires From NFL

Sep 26, 2016 8:44 PM

Anthony Davis has retired again from the NFL.

Davis sat out last year in part because of concerns over a concussion before deciding to return to the Niners this summer. He suffered another concussion in practice on Sept. 15 and has not played since.

Davis was slated to start at right guard, but missed the final practice before the season opener for non-injury reasons.

Davis was one of the NFL's best right tackles during the 49ers' run of three straight NFC Championship Games.

Bruce Arians: Carson Palmer Was 'Trade Of The Century'

Sep 22, 2016 8:37 AM

Nearly four years after the Arizona Cardinals acquired Carson Palmer for a sixth-round pick and a swap of seventh-round selections, Bruce Arians praised Steve Keim's work.

"Oh God, that was the trade of century by Steve Keim," Arians said.

Palmer went 8-16 over 24 starts with the Oakland Raiders before the deal.

He is tied with Tom Brady for the highest winning percentage (.750) among starting quarterbacks during his time with the Cardinals. During that span, he ranks fifth in passing yards per game (280.4) and eighth in passer rating (95.1).

Market Research Poll: Colin Kaepernick Is Most Disliked Player In NFL

Sep 23, 2016 7:43 AM

Colin Kaepernick is the most disliked player in the NFL, according to a recent poll by E-Poll Marketing Research, which asked 1,100 people whose demographics were representative of the general population.

The poll revealed that Kaepernick was "disliked a lot" by 29 percent of those polled, more than any of the more than 350 players asked about in the survey.

After Kaepernick, the most disliked players were as follows: Jameis Winston (22 percent), Ndamukong Suh (21 percent), Tom Brady (13 percent) and Ben Roethlisberger (10 percent).

The last time the poll was taken, in August 2014, Kaepernick was only "disliked a lot" by 6 percent of the population.

While results of the poll show Kaepernick being more disliked by the general population, much of that has to do with the fact that African-Americans only make up 15 percent of the U.S. population. Kaepernick hasn't been standing during the national anthem to show his displeasure with the treatment of African-Americans by police officers.

Among African-Americans, Kaepernick has never been more popular. The poll shows 42 percent of African-Americans now say they like the 49ers quarterback "a lot," while only 2 percent dislike him "a lot."
