Chip Kelly Denies Having Interest In Oregon Job

Dec 1, 2016 2:26 PM

Chip Kelly said he has no plans to leave the San Francisco 49ers despite his old job at Oregon now becoming available again.

Oregon fired Mark Helfrich on Tuesday.

Kelly was asked if he planned on staying with the 49ers.

"Yep," Kelly said. "So we're all done with that, I hope."

Asked if there's any chance he will return to Oregon, Kelly shook his head and said, "No."

Kelly said he called Helfrich, his close friend, on Wednesday morning to offer support.

"I have not talked to anybody at Oregon except for Mark Helfrich," Kelly said.

Ben Roethlisberger: Steelers 'Can't Have' Antonio Brown's Flags

Nov 30, 2016 11:38 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers have talked to Antonio Brown about his celebration penalties following touchdowns, according to Ben Roethlisberger.

Brown received his third touchdown-celebration penalty of the season against the Indianapolis Colts on Thanksgiving.

"He knows, we all know, Coach [Mike] Tomlin brought it up yesterday, that is a huge penalty and we can't do that," Roethlisberger said on 93.7 The Fan. "We put our kick coverage team in a bad situation and we can't have that, and AB knows that."

Roethlisberger added that he understands Brown's excitement after scoring and believes the officials are watching Brown closely.

Cowboys Struggling To Generate Pressure On Quarterbacks

Nov 29, 2016 8:27 AM

The pass rush has been a concern for the Dallas Cowboys this season despite a stellar win-loss record.

For the first time this season, the Cowboys didn't register a sack against the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving.

"I'm not concerned. I wouldn't use that word," Tyrone Crawford said. "Obviously, we want sacks no matter what. If we rush one, two, three, we always want a sack. Unfortunately, we didn't get any last week.

"But for people who don't understand what we're doing, they're probably thinking sacks is something major that has to happen. It does, don't get me wrong, but just getting them off the field in three downs is most important."

A portion of the pass rush issues stem from the Cowboys going with a three-man front more often.

The Cowboys have only 20 sacks on the season, tied for 25th in the league. Dallas is on pace for 29 sacks, which would be fewer than it had last season (31) and just one more than it had in 2014 (28).

"Not good enough," defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said. "We've got to keep working at it."

Gary Kubiak Wants Broncos To Handle Emotions Better

Nov 29, 2016 8:20 AM

Gary Kubiak wants the Denver Broncos to handle their emotions better going forward.

Aqib Talib shoved Jordan Norwood after Norwood muffed a punt early in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

"We compete at the highest level," Kubiak said. "Our guys compete all the time -- practice, games, those types of things -- so I see guys competing, guys are upset. Jordan and Aqib are fine, I can tell you that. That's not an issue."

The incident happened in a hard-nosed game the Broncos trailed 16-10 with 12½ minutes left in regulation.

"Emotions get in the way and those are things we've got to talk about,'' Kubiak said. "We've got to control our emotions. It's a very competitive environment down there and there was no harm intended, I can tell you that. Those two guys are fine."

Eric Dickerson: Jeff Fisher Banned Me From Rams Sideline

Nov 29, 2016 8:17 AM

Eric Dickerson told ESPN on Monday that Jeff Fisher basically told him he didn't want him on the Los Angeles Rams sideline during games because some of his public comments have made players "uncomfortable."

The Rams are 4-7 in their first season back in Los Angeles. Dickerson was a star when the club last played on the West Coast.

Fisher later backtracked in that conversation, after Dickerson defended his right to speak out, but Dickerson vowed to Fisher that he would never go to a Rams game as long as Fisher is the team's coach.

"I won't be at the Coliseum as long as Fisher is coaching," Dickerson reiterated. "I'm a man of my word, and if I tell you something, I'm going to do it."
