Cardinals Looking To Give Boldin New Deal?

May 21, 2014 6:09 PM

Cardinals General Manager Rod Graves reportedly wants to sign wide receiver Anquan Boldin to a new contract, according to The Arizona Republic. Boldin has three years left on his current deal but is looking for a more lucrative contract and is unsure about whether or not he'll report to training camp on time later this summer. "He's under contract, and we expect him to honor that agreement," Graves said, "and as we said, we'll continue to work with him." There is no guarantee, and it seems rather unlikely that the Cardinals will agree to terms on a new deal with Boldin this summer.

Four NFL Teams Watch Kevin Jones Workout

Oct 7, 2014 6:39 PM

Kevin Jones went through a workout Saturday while four NFL teams watched the running back sprint and cut just five months after he had major knee surgery, as reported by the Associated Press. Dr. D.S. Ping, who has been helping Jones rehabilitate his right knee, said Miami, Green Bay, Pittsburgh and Detroit sent representatives to the workout in Saline, Michigan. The Lions cut Jones in March with one year left on his contract after he hurt the knee late last season, adding to the injury woes that have stunted his success. The Cleveland Browns also called, Ping said, and asked for a video of the workout.

Goodell On Rookie Pay: 'There's Something Wrong'

Oct 31, 2014 4:42 AM

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell believes that the league's rookie contracts have gotten out of hand and wants the issue addressed in negotiations, according to The Associated Press. "There's something wrong about the system," Goodell said Friday. "The money should go to people who perform." He was referring to the contract Jake Long received from the Dolphins, $57.75 million over five years with $30 million guaranteed, in April. "He doesn't have to play a down in the NFL, and he already has his money," Goodell said. "Now, with the economics where they are, the consequences if you don't evaluate that player, you can lose a significant amount of money." "And that money is not going to players that are performing. It's going to a player that never makes it in the NFL. And I think that's ridiculous." Goodell said he favors lowering salaries offered to rookies but allowing a provision for those players to renegotiate their deals after proving themselves on the field.

Sapp Interested In Dancing With The Stars?

Nov 12, 2014 6:52 PM

Recently retired Oakland Raider Warren Sapp is interested in competing on 'Dancing With The Stars', according to The St. Petersburg Times. "I don't want to go to (ESPN) every week for a two-hour show. I want something short and sweet," Sapp said when asked whether he'd like a broadcasting gig. "I'd love to have a radio gig, just turn on the mic and talk about the topics of the day. I might do that Dancing With the Stars." Rick Stroud of the Times than asked Sapp whether or not the show has approached him. "Yeah, it's something that sort of came out of nowhere. But I enjoy the idea of training for something else. My whole life has been football. I could hang out in L.A. for a few weeks. My daughter would love it. There's nothing wrong with my smile. I don't think I speak Ebonics. I think I will (do the show)."
