Eagles Release DeSean Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles have released DeSean Jackson.

The Eagles timed their release of Jackson just a few minutes after a report by Eliot Shorr-Parks and A.J. Perez indicated that they were concerned about his reputed ties to Los Angeles gangs.

The Eagles tried to trade Jackson for several weeks.

The Eagles will carry $6 million in dead money and save $6.75 million in cap space.

Several teams were interested in trading for Revis but he was completely unwilling to renegotiate his contract as part of a trade.

Revis will become a free agent and be the most highly targeted cornerback on the market.

Panthers Won't Bring Back Steve Smith In 2014

Steve Smith's tenure with the Carolina Panthers is over and he'll likely be released.

Smith's longtime representative Derrick Fox told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Smith "is not going to play for the Panthers next year, I know that. I just don't know when that transaction is going to take place."

Fox said the Panthers have been trying to trade Smith.

Smith is scheduled to make $7 million under the 2014 salary cap.

Smith is a 13-year NFL veteran and had hoped to finish his career with the Panthers.

Seahawks Save $7.5M By Cutting Chris Clemons

The Seattle Seahawks have released Chris Clemons.

The Seahawks will save $7.5 million in cap space by releasing Clemons.

Clemons had a reduced role at defensive end in 2013 and is already 32.

The Seahawks re-signed Michael Bennett this offseason, which essentially forced out Clemons.

DeMarcus Ware Released By Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have released DeMarcus Ware.

Ware was due to count for $16 million under the salary cap, and he was due to earn $12.75 million in 2014.

Ware will now become a free agent after a long run as one of the best defensive players in the NFL.

The San Francisco 49ers will cut Carlos Rogers after the start of the NFL's 2014 calendar to spread out the remaining cap hit from his original $5 million signing bonus over two seasons.

The 49ers signed Rogers to a four-year, $29.3 million contract in 2012.

The move will save $6.6 million in cap space in 2014.

Rogers signed a one-year deal in 2011 and was then named to his first Pro Bowl team.
