Offensive lineman Damien Woody confirmed on his Twitter account that he had been released by the New York Jets. According to the New York Daily News, the Jets are also expected to cut outside linebacker Vernon Gholston, nose guard Kris Jenkins and outside linebacker Jason Taylor. These moves will save the team approximately $20 million, which can be used to make other transactions this off-season, potentially including re-signing WR Santonio Holmes.

The Texans have waived safety Eugene Wilson, in addition to four other players. Wilson, receiver Andre Davis, linebacker Darnell Bing, linebacker Isiah Greenhouse and defensive tackle DeMario Pressley were released on Friday. Wilson, 30, an eight-year veteran who played cornerback at New England before switching positions with the Texans, started on a defense that ranked 30th overall and 32nd against the pass.
