The Broncos released running back Selvin Young on Thursday. They used the 12th overall pick in last weekend's draft to take Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno, and will have a half-dozen tailbacks competing for playing time. The Broncos also have holdovers Peyton Hillis and Ryan Torian and free agents J.J. Arrington, Correll Buckhalter and LaMont Jordan.

The Arizona Cardinals, in an expected move, released RB Edgerrin James on Tuesday afternoon, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. James, who asked for his release after his role was diminished last season, became expendable once the team drafted Ohio State RB Beanie Wells in the first round Saturday. James was due $5 million, which now comes off Arizona?s projected salary cap.

The Lions have claimed wide receiver Will Franklin off waivers from the Chiefs. According to FOX Sports, the Rams, Colts, Raiders and Eagles were also interested in Franklin.
