Eric Ebron Wants To Set Tight End Touchdown Record

May 8, 2019 8:22 AM

Eric Ebron, who scored a career-high 13 touchdowns last season, wants to break the record for touchdowns by a tight end.

"I believe Gronk still holds the record for most touchdowns, which is 17. So, if I want to do anything that is gonna be real spectacular or really good, I gotta go get 17," Ebron said. "And if I go and get 17, I help my team win games. I did that, proved that and I feel like if I'm at my best, then I feel like this team will be at their best."

Ebron is set to make $7 million in 2019, the final year of his two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

Forty-five percent of first round picks (14 of 31) from the 2016 NFL Draft had their fifth-year options declined.

In each of the last two years, 20 fifth-year options were picked up and 12 were declined.

Jack Conklin was the highest selected player who had his option declined as the Tennessee Titans had selected him eight overall.

The Cleveland Browns had already released Corey Coleman, as had the Denver Broncos with Paxton Lynch.
