Peyton Manning: Drew Brees 'Deserves' To Break Yardage Mark

Jun 26, 2018 8:25 AM

Drew Brees is on pace to break Peyton Manning's all-time passing yardage mark.

"It's just a matter of when," Manning said.

"He deserves it. He's been a great player for a long time."

Manning retired after the 2015 season with 71,940 career passing yards and 539 touchdown passes -- both all-time NFL marks. Brees needs just 1,496 yards to pass Manning.

"Obviously, he's just been the ultimate pro, taking care of himself, being in great shape. Credit to him for playing as long as he has at such a high level," Manning continued. "He's just been a great model of consistency, what he and Sean [Payton] have been able to do together for [12] years now."

Matt Ryan Was Unlucky On Interceptions Last Season

Jun 1, 2018 1:33 PM

Matt Ryan threw 12 interceptions last season, which isn't a high total, but the Atlanta Falcons quarterback actually had a fair amount of bad luck.

According to Football Outsiders, Ryan threw five interceptions that should have been completions to his own teammates. A high number of passes were thrown into the hands of Atlanta receivers, only to be tipped into the hands of a defensive player.

No quarterback has had that many tipped interceptions in a season since 2010.

In 2017, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger all threw more passes than Ryan and had zero passes tipped by their own receivers and intercepted.
