Falcons, Cowboys, Eagles Rank In Top-3 Of DVOA

Nov 29, 2016 8:44 PM

Similar to the Trench Counter, Football Outsiders' DVOA continues to produce more noise than signal.

Five teams are packed together within five percentage points, all far below any No. 1 team of years past.

The Atlanta Falcons now rank No. 1 in DVOA ahead of the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite a losing record, the Philadelphia Eagles rank No. 3.

The Seattle Seahawks dropped from first to fourth following their performance in a loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Washington round out the top-10.

Tom Brady Ties Peyton Manning's Record With 200th Career Win

Nov 28, 2016 8:36 AM

Tom Brady helped the New England Patriots top the New York Jets on Sunday, tying him with Peyton Manning for the most victories by a quarterback (200).

Brady is 200-61 in his career. Manning finished at 200-92.

"I love winning games," Brady said. "I think that's what it comes down to. That's why we all play, and I've just been a part of so many great teams and played with great coaches. Nobody could win a football game by themselves. It takes everybody. ... It means I've been around for a little bit and played with a lot of great players on a lot of great teams."

Kickers Set NFL Record With 12 Missed PATs

Nov 21, 2016 9:45 AM

NFL kickers missed 12 extra points on Sunday, breaking a post-merger record and continuing a recent trend of unreliability.

Kickers failed six times in Week 10, bringing the two-week total to 18 misses with a game to play.

The previous record for one week of play was 10, set most recently in 1985, according to Elias.

The NFL moved the kick from the 2-yard line to the 15 at the start of the 2015 season.
