Ryan Targets Jones Deep Three Times

Oct 21, 2014 5:58 PM

The Falcons worked on their vertical passing game on Friday night against the Dolphins.

Matt Ryan attempted three bombs in the direction of wide receiver Julio Jones, who came down with one for a 49-yard gain. Jones got his hands on the other two, but he was unable to haul them in.

Atlanta is looking to feature a deep passing attack under new coordinator Dirk Koetter. They did not regularly throw the ball down the field under former coordinator Mike Mularkey.

"I think that's one of the things when you are throwing it down the field, you just got to keep taking those chances," Ryan said. "You've got to have the timing just right. It's one of the those things where you are 1 out of 3 on balls way down the field, that's not a bad day."

Tice Wants Forte, Bush To Both Surpass 1,000 Yards

Jul 19, 2014 2:00 PM

Mike Tice, Chicago's new offensive coordinator, is committed to the running game.

Michael Bush signed a four-year, $14 million deal with the Bears this past offseason to take some of the load off starter Matt Forte. Tice wants both Bush and Forte to rush for 1,000 yards this season.

"[Tice] said he wanted to do it, and I said, 'Well, you got the right two people,'" Bush said recently.

Only six teams in NFL history have had a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in the same season.
