Kyler Murray, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, said he had to be convinced to play in Sunday's season finale against the Los Angeles Rams.

Murray said his hamstring felt good during a pregame workout during which he tried to accelerate "a couple of times," but it felt sore just before the game. Murray was trying to err on the side of caution but said he had to be talked into playing.

The rookie quarterback injured himself in Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks.

"They had to like convince me just because I'm more concerned, not wanting to injure it more, but at the same time, I understood it is what it is," Murray said. "I'm a competitor. If I hurt it, I'm going to hurt it. So, when I was out there I wasn't even thinking about it."

Kliff Kingsbury said after the loss that Murray was not at risk to hurt the hamstring more during the game.

"It was a deal where if he strained it more, he wouldn't have gone," Kingsbury said. "He felt it but really, you saw he didn't try to take off. We didn't run him at all. He did a nice job of not kicking it into fifth gear."

Ben Roethlisberger confirmed he will return to the NFL in 2020.

Roethlisberger had elbow surgery after his injury to reattach three tendons. Roethlisberger hasn't been cleared to throw yet but he is tracking to be ready for the 2020 season.

"Contrary to recent reports out there about my football future and my ‘uncertainty’ about playing again, I am working hard and am more determined than ever to come back stronger and better than ever next year!" wrote Roethlisberger on Twitter.

Josh Jacobs underwent surgery on his fractured right shoulder on Wednesday.

Jacobs has missed two of the Oakland Raiders' past three games with the injury.

Jacobs ranks eighth in the NFL this season with 1,150 rushing yards despite playing in only 13 games.

The Raiders remain mathematically alive to qualify for the playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks fear Chris Carson suffered a season-ending hip injury in Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Carson was injured in the second quarter. Pete Carroll said postgame that Carson was undergoing tests to determine the severity of the hip injury, but that the team's doctors were telling the coach it appears to be season-ending.

Seattle's Week 17 game against the San Francisco 49ers will determine the NFC West title.

The Tennessee Titans are holding out Derrick Henry for their Week 16 game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Titans need to win in Week 17 against the Houston Texans regardless of what happens in Sunday's game.

The Minnesota Vikings are unlikely to have Dalvin Cook on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers, according to sources.

Cook is dealing with a shoulder injury.

The running back was injured at the beginning of the third quarter during Sunday's 39-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Jared Goff says he'll be ready to play on Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers despite a bruised right thumb that is ""a little stiff."

"I'll be good in a day or two," Goff said Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Rams (8-6) are in a must-win situation as they chase a Wild Card berth. The Rams must win on the road against the 49ers and at home versus the Arizona Cardinals plus the Vikings must lose at home to the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears in order to qualify for the playoffs.
