Saquon Barkley Won't Accept Sitting Out Remainder Of 2019

Nov 12, 2019 3:58 PM

Saquon Barkley isn't 100 percent and the New York Giants have a 2-8 record, but he still won't accept getting shut down for the season.

Barkley underwent an X-ray on shoulder after Sunday's loss to the New York Jets.

Barkley missed three games last month due to a high ankle sprain. Since returning to action, Barkley is averaging just 2.6 yards per carry after averaging 6.4 per carry initially this season.

"The mindset of sitting me out and resting me for the rest of the season is beyond me," Barkley said. "I do not agree with it. It won't happen. I'm going to keep going until I can't go no more. That's the player I am and I'm going to do it for my teammates."

Nov 8, 2019 3:48 PM

Patrick Mahomes will return to the Kansas City Chiefs for Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans.

"I'm in a good spot,'' Mahomes said after the Chiefs concluded their practice week on Friday. "I'm ready to get out there.''

Mahomes dislocated his right kneecap in an Oct. 17 game against the Denver Broncos.

"I knew I had a chance once I talked to those doctors and they said as long as I was functioning well, moving well, I could play this week,'' Mahomes said. "Coach [Andy] Reid still wanted me to take it day by day. I went out here in practice and took the reps and I haven't had any pain or any setbacks and so as long as we keep going with that I'm glad to be back out there.''

Brandin Cooks 'Can't Wait To Get Back On The Field This Year'

Nov 8, 2019 7:55 AM

Brandin Cooks won't play this weekend, but he's hopeful that a series of concussions won't sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Cooks made the trip to meet with doctors about the concussion he suffered in Week 8.

"Whether some like it or not I'm far from that end destination when it comes to this game," Cooks wrote on Instgram. "I’m thankful that this soon will be something in the past. Time and time again my God is faithful and blessed nothing serious. Can’t wait to get back on the field this year. Like my good ole pal Spongebob Squarepants says ‘I’m ready I’m ready I’m ready . . . Cam Newton Placed On Season-Ending Injured Reserve

Nov 5, 2019 2:53 PM

Cam Newton has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Newton aggravated the Lisfranc injury, originally suffered in the third preseason game, in a Week 2 loss against the Buccaneers.

"For the past seven weeks, Cam has diligently followed a program of rest and rehab and still is experiencing pain in his foot," general manager Marty Hurney said in a statement. "He saw two foot specialists last week who agreed that he should continue that path prescribed by the team's medical staff, and that it likely will take significant time for the injury to fully heal."

Newton had previously only missed three starts in seven seasons.

Newton has one season remaining on his contract with the Carolina Panthers.
