Michael Bennett Undergoes Surgery, Could Sign Extension With Seahawks

Oct 30, 2016 4:38 PM

Michael Bennett will miss between two and three weeks following surgery for a cartilage issue. Bennett has been tremendously durable during his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks.

Long considered one of the most undervalued players in the NFL, Bennett is currently playing on the four-year, $32 million deal he signed back in 2014.

Bennett and the Seahawks could discuss an extension in the coming weeks.

Chiefs Lose Alex Smith, Spencer Ware To Concussions

Oct 30, 2016 4:25 PM

Alex Smith and Spencer Ware left the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 8 game against the Colts due to concussions.

Smith left the game in the first quarter to be checked for a possible concussion. He returned later in the half after being cleared. Smith eventually left for good when pushed to the turf in the third quarter at the end of a scramble.

Ware played the first half but didn't return to the game after that.

Jamaal Charles Out For Week 8 With Knee Soreness

Oct 30, 2016 1:36 PM

Jamaal Charles has been ruled out for Week 8 due to soreness in both of his knee.

Charles played in only two snaps last Sunday and has just 40 yards of 12 carries this season.

Coming off last year's ACL tear, Charles has been eclipsed on the field by workhorse Spencer Ware, whose 129.5 scrimmage yards per game this season rank fourth in NFL.

Ware has 35.9 percent of Kansas City's total yards in 2016.

Michael Bennett Out For Week 8, Might Need Surgery

Oct 29, 2016 10:06 AM

Michael Bennett has been ruled out for the Seattle Seahawks' Week 8 game against the Saints.

Bennett suffered the injury two weeks ago against the Falcons.

The Seahawks will make a determination next week if Bennett needs surgery. It's an unexpected development after Bennett played through the injury in last week's 6-6 tie with the Cardinals.

Bennett hasn't missed a game since joining the Seahawks in 2013.

Bennett's knee injury was the result of a cut block by Falcons left tackle Jake Matthews, a tactic the pass rusher railed against after the game, saying: "To me it's a scary (expletive) move," Bennett said. "Honestly, I think if you dive at someone else's legs, you're a little (expletive). If you are big in the NFL, you just line up and play -- why you got to cut someone on the (expletive) play? I mean, I don't know. That (expletive) is just stupid to me."

C.J. Anderson Placed On IR, Likely Out For 2016

Oct 28, 2016 5:27 PM

The Denver Broncos have placed C.J. Anderson on injured reserve, which will likely end his season.

With Anderson on injured reserve, he has to be out for at least six weeks before he can return to practice and has to be out for a minimum of eight weeks before he can play in a game. The Broncos only have nine regular-season games remaining.

Anderson had a minor arthroscopic procedure to repair the meniscus in his right knee Thursday.

C.J. Anderson To Undergo Surgery On Right Knee

Oct 29, 2016 10:06 AM

C.J. Anderson will undergo surgery to determine the extent of damage to the meniscus in his right knee.

Anderson is out indefinitely.

Whether Anderson has a full or partial tear in the meniscus will be determined during the arthroscopic procedure, and a repair could be made. A full tear would almost surely end his season, and a partial tear could mean a four- or five-week absence.

Anderson suffered the injury during an 11-yard run on the last play of the first quarter of the Broncos' 27-9 victory over the Houston Texans Monday night.

C.J. Anderson To Have Knee Evaluated, Will Miss Time

Oct 27, 2016 8:47 PM

C.J. Anderson missed practice on Wednesday to have his right knee evaluated to determine how much time the Denver Broncos running back will miss.

Anderson's right knee buckled slightly during an 11-yard run on the last play of the first quarter on Monday night.

"He came in really sore [Tuesday]," Gary Kubiak said. "So we're trying to evaluate exactly where he's at right now."

"Basically we're getting a second opinion,'' Kubiak added. "We hope to know some time [Thursday] afternoon."

Anderson has 437 yards rushing this season to go with four rushing touchdowns.

Donte Moncrief Hopeful Of Returning For Week 8

Oct 26, 2016 4:50 PM

Donte Moncrief returned to practice Wednesday with the Indianapolis Colts and he said he would be "surprised" if he didn't play in Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Moncrief began the season as the Colts' No. 2 wide receiver behind T.Y. Hilton but injured his shoulder in Week 2.

"Never in my life missed any games -- this is the first one," Moncrief said. "First time for everything. ... I thought it was just a stinger at first. I didn't know what was going on. Come to find out it was hurt worse than what I thought."
