Aug 30, 2015 1:41 AM

Robert Griffin III has not been cleared by doctors to play in Washington's preseason game on Saturday.

Griffin suffered concussion-like symptoms in an Aug. 20 preseason game against the Detroit Lions, but practiced all week and was initially cleared by independent neurologist Robert N. Kurtzke.

However, the team reversed course Friday.

It was unclear even Thursday whether Griffin had indeed suffered a concussion.

Galette, 27, was released by the New Orleans Saints earlier this summer, less than a year after they signed him to an extension worth up to $41 million.

Texans Expect Jadeveon Clowney To Play Week 1

Aug 26, 2015 1:46 PM

The Houston Texans expect Jadeveon Clowney to play in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Clowney returned to practice Aug. 17 after a lengthy recovery from microfracture surgery.

"I think he's doing well," Bill O'Brien said. "I think we've got a good plan in place for him from a medical perspective ... little bit more every day. He wants to be in there more, which is a great sign. It means he's probably feeling pretty good. ... We'll just keep inching him forward to be able to go in that first game."

"I'm rusty," Clowney said. "I'm just trying to get as many reps as I can. Tell coach to put me in as much as possible. They're not trying to rush me back. Working me in slowly. I'll still be trying to get as many reps as I can so I can get ready for the game."

Jordy Nelson Has Torn ACL In Right Knee

Aug 26, 2015 12:58 PM

Jordy Nelson has a torn ACL in his right knee but everything else is in tact.

Nelson will miss the remainder of the season for the Green Bay Packers.

"It was determined that WR Jordy Nelson sustained a significant right knee injury in yesterday's game at Pittsburgh," the Packers said in a statement. "He will miss the remainder of the season."

Nelson will need reconstructive surgery but should be back for the start of the 2016 season.

Nelson appeared to land awkwardly on his left knee and not the right knee. Nelson limped off the field under his own power.

"It's difficult to lose a guy like that in a meaningless game," Aaron Rodgers said after the game.

Maurkice Pouncey Likely Needs Ankle Surgery

Aug 24, 2015 12:07 AM

Maurkice Pouncey will likely need to undergo surgery on his injured left ankle.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix rolled into Pouncey's leg on a first-quarter running play, forcing the Pro Bowl center to leave the game on a cart. He was examined on the sideline before being taken to the locker room for X-rays.

"He does bring a different vibe when he's in there," guard Ramon Foster said. "I think everybody can agree with that. But we'll see what happens."

Pouncey has been hurt in two of the past three seasons, missing 15 games with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in 2013.

Aaron Rodgers: I'm Back Playing The Way I Like To Play

Aug 21, 2015 5:59 PM

Aaron Rodgers feels recovered from a calf injury that slowed him down toward the end of last season.

"I'm back to playing the way I like to play, which is to extend plays when I can and get rid of it when I need to," Rodgers said Thursday, via ESPN.com.

"(If) I have an opportunity to escape the pocket and create a different angle, then I'm going to. It's nice to be back. I trained hard this offseason to keep the speed and keep my body in shape where I can have the endurance to have multiple plays like that in a game. And it definitely adds a different element to our offense."

Rodgers' mobility and accuracy makes him the NFL's most productive quarterback.

Rodgers added he has "zero inhibitions" when it comes to moving on the field.
