Jadeveon Clowney Played With Sports Hernia Injury At South Carolina

Jul 10, 2014 8:04 PM

Jadeveon Clowney, who underwent surgery for a sports hernia two weeks ago that caused him to miss minicamp, played with the injury during his final season at South Carolina, according to a report.

Clowney had said earlier this month that the injury did not predate his time with Houston, but his agent told a different story to NFL.com during Thursday's NFL rookie symposium.

"He thought about not participating in his pro day but went ahead anyway, and what a performance," Clowney's agent, Bus Cook, told the website.

Cook says Clowney thought he was dealing with a groin injury.

Tony Romo Never Considered Retiring After Back Surgery

Oct 6, 2014 9:28 PM

Tony Romo said he never considered retirement after undergoing back surgery to repair a herniated disk.

Joe Montana underwent a similar procedure in 1986 and was told he may never play again.

“There’s never a thought about not coming back,” Romo said Friday on the NFL Network. “I’m chasing a dream and a goal and I’m going to do everything I can. If I sacrifice my back and some ribs in the process, but that’s what makes it great.”

Jon Beason Fractures Foot, Could Be Out 12 Weeks

Jun 30, 2014 2:37 AM

Jon Beason suffered a ligament tear and a small fracture to the sesamoid in his right foot during the New York Giants' OTA on Thursday.

His recovery could take 12 weeks, according to NFL Network.

"The prognosis is 'X' amount of time and it [the Sept. 8 opener] is within that timeframe," Beason said, in a press release issued by the team. "I expect to be back [for that game]. If not, I'll be back as soon as I can. That's really how you have to look at it. If it's not 16 [games played], maybe it's 15 or 14. Whatever it is, you want it to be that number as opposed to one."

Beason had injury issues in 2011 and 2012, but he played in all 12 games last year after the Giants acquired him from the Carolina Panthers in a trade.

The Giants re-signed the three-time Pro Bowler to a three-year, $16.8 million contract in March.

Our love for David is strong and we are praying for him and his family during this difficult time. All of your positive thoughts and prayers for David are encouraged and appreciated.”

Andre Brown Simply Hoping To Stay Healthy

Aug 5, 2014 4:49 AM

Andre Brown has been productive throughout his career, but has had difficulty staying on the field. Brown has been limited to just 22 games out of a possible 80 regular season contests since coming into the NFL in 2009.

Brown signed with the Houston Texans this offseason on a one-year, $645,000 deal.

"I've had my highs and my lows," said Brown. "Unfortunately, the injuries, that's been my little bug. So I have to shake that."

Brown is competing for the No. 2 running back job behind Arian Foster.

"The goal is to play 16 games," Brown said. "I feel like if I can go through 16 games with no hiccups, the sky's the limit."
