Aug 1, 2014 12:32 AM

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates will test his right foot in two to three weeks. Gates, who visited foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina this week because of some pain, was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. "You see guys out here working hard and you want to be a part of it," Gates said. "But you got to take care of issues off the field; take care of my foot and make sure I stay healthy. Because ultimately September is when it really starts, and I'm looking forward to that."

Jul 31, 2014 11:27 PM

Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey said Thursday that he's fine after suffering a seizure during a weightlifting session. "I am ok, thanks to everyone who has shown their concern don't worry about me I will be fine," Shockey wrote on his Twitter page. "WHO DAT!!" New Orleans coach Sean Payton said Shockey will be hospitalized overnight after an incident that veteran safety Darren Sharper called "scary" to see. "I talked to Jeremy from the hospital, and the good news is he's feeling better and everything looks real good," Payton said. "He'll likely finish up his tests and spend the night in the hospital. They don't know if it was dehydration or what. That's what they're going through right now. They just want to make sure it's nothing more significant than that."

Vikings Optimistic About Favre's Surgery

Nov 15, 2014 5:10 AM

The Vikings aren't surprised that quarterback Brett Favre has undergone ankle surgery. Favre confirmed the procedure last Friday on his website. "I think that's some promising news," tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said. "Why'd he get ankle surgery? That's the first thing that came through my mind. Seems like he got it for the season, because that's what he needed to come back to the Vikings. But whatever's best for him and his family and for his old body -- old, old, old body, I stress that. He has to make a decision that's good for him." Favre has yet to make a decision on the 2010 season.
