Freeney Says Ankle Is Feeling Better

Sep 25, 2014 5:05 PM

Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney says his ankle is starting to feel better every day. Freeney said he's been walking around barefoot and along the sandy beach outside the team's hotel to strengthen his sprained right ankle. "Sometimes walking is good because it keeps things fluid," Freeney said Wednesday. "You hear people say he should be in a boot or something. But sometimes it can get stiff, and you've got to get that motion back in the ankle. It gets the blood flowing, so I've been walking around barefoot and in the sand."

Mathis: Nothing Will Keep Freeney From Playing

Oct 21, 2014 9:41 AM

Teammate Robert Mathis doesn't think there's anything that will keep Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney from playing in Sunday's Super Bowl. Freeney has a torn ligament in his left ankle that kept him out of practice last week. "You have to pick up the slack, and you have to prepare as if he's not going to play," Mathis said Monday night. "I truly believe he's going to be on the field -- nothing is gonna keep him out of this game -- but you have to prepare and be on top of all the details. "If he doesn't play, it doesn't put any more pressure on you. You just know that you're going to get a little bit more attention (from extra blockers) than you would if he's in there. You got to stay on your game and can't relax and rely on him being in there."
